Yesterday, the California Highway Patrol conducted a Maximum Enforcement Period across the state focused on speeding.

Speeding continues to be a major factor in preventable crashes. Speeding also continues to be one of the most common primary crash factors in fatal traffic collisions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported over 37,000 fatal traffic collisions.

Our officers were actively patrolling to reduce unsafe driving behaviors, encourage safer speeds, and remind drivers that every decision behind the wheel matters.

Take your time, stay focused, and help us keep our roads safe for you, your passengers, and everyone traveling alongside you.

The California Highway Patrol joins in mourning the loss of Deputy Randy Hoppert.

A United States Navy veteran, Deputy Hoppert chose a life of service and continued that commitment in law enforcement, carrying forward a family legacy. He served the people of Tulare County with dedication and purpose, and he will be missed by those who knew him and worked alongside him.

All of us at the CHP are keeping his family, his partners, and his department in our thoughts.
