The Marquette County Sheriff's Office, working as a team, strives to provide excellent protection and security to the communities we serve. It is the vision of the Marquette County Sheriff's Office to serve as leaders in our law enforcement community. The Marquette County Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement services within Marquette County. These services include 911 Communications

, Traffic Enforcement/Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Court Security/Inmate Transport, Civil Process, Sheriff Sales, Emergency Management, and Jail Services. The Sheriff's Office also has two Deputies assigned to the City of Montello contract unit. In addition to general patrol functions, the Sheriff's Office has deputies assigned to specialized units such as K9, Traffic Crash Reconstruction, Drone/UAV, Drug Task Force, and a Multi-Agency Emergency Response Team. The Sheriff's Office also has three members who are IACP/NHTSA certified Drug Recognition Experts.

🎣 Cops & Bobbers 2026 🎣

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office was proud to once again participate in the annual Cops & Bobbers fishing event held on the Causeway in Packwaukee last Saturday.

This event is something our members look forward to each year. Deputies and staff from our Patrol Division and Jail/Dispatch Division enjoyed spending the day outdoors with members of the community while taking advantage of one of the many great recreational opportunities Marquette County has to offer.

In addition to members of the Sheriff's Office, we were joined by the Westfield Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol Motor Unit, and the Marquette County Sheriff's Office Chaplain. Events like these provide a great opportunity for law enforcement officers to connect with community members in a relaxed setting while building positive relationships and creating lasting memories.

A special thank you goes out to Keith Bagley and his grandson for acquiring and providing the fishing poles and bait that helped make the event possible. We would also like to extend appreciation to the Packwaukee Library for coordinating the event and providing lunch for everyone in attendance.

While there wasn't much catching happening out on the water this year, we were able to catch this neat photo of a dragonfly landing on one of the participants' fingers! Sometimes the best catch of the day isn't a fish at all. 📸

Thank you to all who participated and helped make this year's Cops & Bobbers event a success. We are fortunate to serve a community that values these partnerships and opportunities to come together and enjoy the outdoors.

🏆 Congratulations Deputy Nicholas Spanske! 🏆

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office is proud to congratulate Deputy Nicholas Spanske on receiving the prestigious CIT Trailblazer Award on June 3, 2026, during the annual CIT Symposium held in Wisconsin Dells.

The CIT Trailblazer Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to expanding and supporting Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) programs while fostering positive outcomes for individuals experiencing mental health crises. This award honors those who go above and beyond to strengthen partnerships between law enforcement, mental health providers, and the communities they serve.

Deputy Spanske is one of only a few deputies and officers in Marquette County who have received specialized Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training. This training equips law enforcement professionals with the additional skills and resources needed to effectively respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises while emphasizing communication, de-escalation, and connecting people with appropriate services.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office views CIT as another important way for our deputies to connect with the community, build trust, and provide assistance to those in need. Deputy Spanske's commitment to these principles has made a meaningful impact on the citizens we serve and reflects the highest standards.

Sheriff Joseph Konrath, Chief Deputy Scott Johnston, and Captain Michael Kowalski were honored to attend the awards ceremony and witness Deputy Spanske receive this well-deserved recognition.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office is releasing the name of the individual who tragically lost his life in the UTV crash that occurred on June 8, 2026, in the Town of Mecan, Marquette County, Wisconsin.

The victim has been identified as Mark Steffen, age 63, of Montello, Wisconsin. We extend our deepest condolences to Mark's family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

The incident remains under investigation by the Marquette County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and the Waushara County Medical Examiner. No further details are available at this time.

June 8, 2026

During the early morning hours of Monday, June 8, 2026, at approximately 4:04 a.m., the Marquette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a UTV crash at the intersection of Fern Drive and 22nd Lane in the Town of Mecan, Marquette County, Wisconsin.

Multiple emergency agencies were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, first responders located the UTV and discovered a lone occupant identified as the driver. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Waushara County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the UTV was traveling north on 22nd Lane and drove off the road prior to the intersection at Fern Drive. The UTV continued traveling through the intersection into a wooded area, striking multiple trees before coming to a final rest.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Princeton Fire Department, Montello Fire Department, Marquette County EMS, the Waushara County Medical Examiner's Office, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

The crash remains under investigation by the Marquette County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin DNR, and the Waushara County Medical Examiner.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the individual who lost their life in this tragic incident.

The quick storm that moved through the area tonight caused a few trees and branches to come down, along with some scattered power outages in parts of the county.

Deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with traffic control and helping keep utility and road crews safe as they work to clear debris and restore power.

If you’re traveling this evening, please use caution and watch for crews working along the roadway. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation.

Several of our deputies recently had the opportunity to help out at the Bike Rodeo in Montello! 🚴‍♂️☀️

The event gave kids a chance to practice bike safety skills, learn the rules of the road, and enjoy a fun day with the community. Our deputies were happy to assist and connect with local families while promoting safe riding habits for everyone.

Thank you to all of the organizers, volunteers, and participants who made the event a success!

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was proud to attend the Touch a Truck event at Lake Arrowhead Campground yesterday alongside Marquette County EMS! Community members had the opportunity to explore some of the equipment carried in our squads, along with specialized equipment used by our Drone Team.

Events like this are a great way for us to connect with the community, answer questions, and give both kids and adults a closer look at the tools and technology we use to help keep our community safe.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with us, and thank you to Lake Arrowhead Campground for hosting such a fun community event!

The weekend is starting off busy in Marquette County. One of our deputies stopped two motorcycles traveling 127 MPH in a posted 55 MPH zone this afternoon.

Automotion is taking place this weekend in the Wisconsin Dells area, and many travelers will be passing through our county. Our deputies will be out proactively patrolling and helping keep our roads safe for everyone traveling this weekend.

Driving at these extreme speeds puts not only the driver at risk, but everyone else sharing the roadway. Slow down, drive responsibly, and help make sure everyone gets to their destination safely.

Today was an exercise. Tomorrow could be real.

Last Saturday, first responders from across the area came together at the Marquette County Fairgrounds for a full-scale mass casualty exercise designed to prepare for the moments we hope never happen.

Behind every radio transmission, every siren, and every scene are people training together to save lives when seconds matter most.

This exercise challenged law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatch, school personnel, hospitals, emergency management, and support agencies to work through a complex, fast-moving incident as one team.

Thank you to every responder, volunteer, evaluator, school staff member, role player, and partner agency who dedicated their time to prepare for the worst — so our community receives the very best.

Training saves lives. Preparation matters. Teamwork makes the difference.
