REMINDER: Montebello Live takes place tomorrow, Thursday, June 11, in Downtown Montebello! As we prepare for this exciting community watch party, please plan ahead for temporary parking restrictions and street closures.

🚧 Street Closures
Temporary street closures will be in effect from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM on both the north and south sides of 6th Street at Whittier Boulevard to accommodate event activities.

🚫 No Parking Zones
Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted in the event area beginning at 6:00 AM. Please follow all posted signage to avoid citation or towing.

🅿️ Event Parking
Attendees may park in the Newmark Mall parking lot or the Montebello Christian School parking lot on 7th Street. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and guests are encouraged to arrive early.

The Montebello Corridor Grade Separation Project will conduct overnight construction activities to deliver and stockpile construction materials along Montebello Way.

🗓️ Dates: Tuesday, June 9 & Wednesday, June 10, 2026
🕘 Time: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM (following morning)

🚚 What to Expect:
• Construction trucks entering from the south along Montebello Way
• Materials delivered through the work site at Montebello Way and Greenwood Avenue
• Anticipated noise, dust, and vibration (monitored for compliance)
• No parking in posted areas along Montebello Way
• Local access for residents and businesses will remain available

Please use caution when traveling near the construction area and plan ahead for overnight activity.

REMINDER: The City of Montebello is studying a potential Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District (EIFD) to help fund future improvements along Whittier Boulevard, Beverly Boulevard, and Washington Boulevard—without creating a new tax or increasing existing tax rates.

Potential improvements being explored include:
🚧 Safer streets & infrastructure
🌳 Parks and open spaces
🏪 Small business support
🏘️ Affordable housing opportunities

Join us for the FINAL community workshop on the EIFD feasibility study and share your feedback on future investments to support community needs and economic growth in Montebello.

After 28 years of dedicated service, the City of Montebello proudly recognizes the retirement of Rafael “Rafa” De La Torre from the Public Works – Street Maintenance Division.

Rafa’s journey with the City began at the Montebello Golf Course, where he spent eight years helping maintain the greens and creating a welcoming experience for visitors. His commitment to service and desire to grow led him to Public Works, where he transitioned into the graffiti abatement program and eventually found his passion in street maintenance.

Over the years, Rafa became known for his hard work, dedication, and willingness to learn—from operating heavy equipment to helping maintain Montebello’s streets, sidewalks, and infrastructure. His efforts helped keep our community safe and moving every day.

Reflecting on his career, Rafa shared: “It has been very rewarding to be able to take care of the city that has helped me provide for my family. I am beyond grateful to Richard Torres, who encouraged me to make the life-changing career choice.”

For nearly three decades, Rafa has been more than a valued employee—he has been a trusted teammate, mentor, and an important part of the Public Works family.

Thank you, Rafa, for 28 years of dedicated excellence and service to the City of Montebello. We wish you health, happiness, and continued success in this exciting new chapter.

The City of Montebello invites you to the first Montebello Live event—a FREE community watch party celebrating the opening match of the world's biggest international soccer tournament!

Join us for an afternoon filled with soccer, culture, music, food, and community in the heart of Downtown Montebello as we launch this exciting Downtown Montebello Project focused on bringing people together through arts, culture, events, and food.

Bring your friends and family and catch the opening match between Mexico and South Africa at one of five viewing locations throughout Downtown Montebello. 🦟 Protect Yourself Against West Nile Virus (WNV)

West Nile Virus is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito, which is most active from dusk to dawn. While many people infected with WNV may not feel sick, about 1 in 5 people develop symptoms such as fever, headache, body aches, nausea, or a skin rash. In severe cases, WNV can cause paralysis or even death. There is currently no human vaccine for West Nile Virus.

Help reduce mosquito breeding and protect your neighborhood by:
✔️ Eliminating standing water from buckets, tires, rain barrels, clogged gutters, and other containers
✔️ Maintaining swimming pools, spas, and ponds
✔️ Wearing insect repellent when outdoors during peak mosquito activity
✔️ Reporting neglected or green pools to vector control
