🚧 Sewer Rehabilitation Project 🚧

The Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts will rehabilitate approximately 4,300 feet of sewer as part of the Montebello Diversion Trunk Sewer Rehabilitation Project.

📍 Work Areas:
• S Vail Ave from E Washington Blvd to W Mines Ave
• W Mines Ave from S Vail Ave to S Maple Ave

🗓 Construction Begins: September 8, 2026
📅 Project Timeline: September – Fall 2026

The project will use a pipe lining system to rehabilitate the existing sewer and will also include improvements to 15 manholes. Affected residents and businesses have received advance notice.

Please stay clear of active construction areas and use caution around crews and equipment.

Join the City of Montebello on Saturday, September 12, at 9:00 a.m. as we celebrate the completion of the new crosswalk at Poplar Avenue and E. Eula Drive, across from La Merced Academy, with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Part of the City’s Safe Streets and Roads for All initiative, the newly completed crosswalk features new ADA curb ramps and enhanced striping designed to improve pedestrian accessibility and increase visibility for drivers at this busy intersection.

Montebello City Hall will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.

Regular business hours for city offices and non-emergency services will resume on Tuesday, September 8. Public safety and emergency services will remain operational.

🚛 Residential trash collection provided by Athens Services will be delayed by exactly one day.

🧹There will be no street sweeping or street sweeping enforcement on Labor Day Monday.

On September 1, the Montebello Planning Commission approved two Conditional Use Permits and a Zone Variance, clearing the way for Round One Entertainment to open at The Shops at Montebello.

Round One will initially occupy approximately 43,331 square feet on the second level of the former Forever 21 space. The new entertainment and dining destination is expected to feature arcade games, including exclusive machines from Japan, billiards, karaoke, private party rooms, and a Japanese food hall with seating for approximately 281 guests.

Round One’s decision to invest in Montebello reflects the continued economic growth and business-friendly environment that helped the City earn recognition as the 2025 Most Business-Friendly City in Los Angeles County by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation.

Additional information about construction and the anticipated opening will be announced as it becomes available.
