A fond farewell to Mary Davis: honoring her years of service
After more than a decade of dedicated service, SLVREC is proud to celebrate the retirement of Mary Davis, a valued member of our cooperative family. She will complete her career here on April 30, 2026.
Mary joined SLVREC in March 2015 as a Customer Service Representative, and over the years, brought a positive attitude and strong work ethic to every role she held. In April 2025, she transitioned into an Accountant position, continuing to support the cooperative with the same dedication and care.
During her time at SLVREC, Mary witnessed significant growth and change across the organization. From the early days of Ciello to the continued expansion of services, she saw firsthand how the cooperative evolved to better serve its members. “The changes with computer programs here is unending. Technology changes, such as all the AI advancements, we didn’t even talk about that when I started,” Mary commented.
While there have been many highlights, her favorite memories center around the strong sense of community at the coop. Whether participating in leadership team projects like building homes with Habitat for Humanity, helping bring Wi-Fi to La Jara Park or creating co****le boards with coworkers, she has cherished every opportunity to give back.
“I also love Christmas time at REC. The day we get together to celebrate Christmas here with our REC Family is awesome!!! I love big families, and this is definitely a BIG family. It is such a wonderful blessing for me,” Mary stated.
What she will miss most is the REC family. “I have seen kids grow up, people get married, retire, have children. And everyone here gives terrific hugs!!!” she said.
In retirement, Mary is looking forward to spending more time with her husband of 30+ years, as well as their two sons and three grandchildren. Her plans include helping on the farm, fishing, traveling and being a “stay at home girl.”
Reflecting on her time with the cooperative, Mary shared her gratitude: “I can’t thank REC enough for all the opportunities, friendships and learning it has given me. This is a great company to be a part of. May all of you stay safe and keep up the good work!! Hugs for everyone!”
We thank you, Mary, for your years of service and wish you all the best in this next chapter.

Happy Easter from your friends at SLVREC! 🐣💛

Spring is here in the Valley, bringing longer days, warmer weather, and a chance to enjoy the outdoors.

As you soak up the sunshine, remember that small changes—like using natural light—can help save energy too. 🌷⚡

Wishing you a joyful and bright Easter!

SCAM ALERT!
A resident called our office stating she got a scam call from a private number. They claimed to be with SLVREC and said she needs to pay her REC bill now or she will get disconnected.
Keep in mind that we will NEVER call you and ask for this information; please stay diligent and be aware of these
scam calls. When in doubt. always give us a call at 719.852.3538-- don't give out any personal information.

Spotting a Scam
There are several red flags you can watch for to identify an energy scam.
Scammers often use high-pressure tactics to create a sense of urgency, like claiming your electricity or other services will be disconnected if a payment isn’t made immediately.
Additionally, scammers may ask for unusual payment methods such as gift cards or cryptocurrency. If someone is pushing for an unusual payment method, it’s likely a scam.
You’ve probably noticed that many digital scams, like emails or text messages, include poor grammar, spelling errors and odd email addresses. These are red flags, so when you see these dodgy forms of communication, consider it a potential scam.
What SLVREC Will (and Won’t) Do
SLVREC will never demand an instant, immediate payment and threaten to disconnect your service without prior notices or warnings. We strive to resolve challenging situations and work with our members to avoid disconnects.
SLVREC will never ask for your Social Security number or banking details over the phone or through email. We offer several secure payment options, including in-person, www.slvrec.com, 719-852-3538, option 1 and various local bank branches.

Avoiding Scams
Whether in-person, over the phone or online, always be suspicious of an unknown individual claiming to be an SLVREC employee requesting banking or other personal information.
If you’re ever in doubt about a potential energy scam, just give us a quick call at 719-852-3538 so we can assist. SLVREC wants to help protect you and our community against utility frauds, and by notifying us about potential scams, you can create the first line of defense. We encourage you to report any potential scams so we can spread the word and prevent others in our community from falling victim.
