Back in June, we fully restocked the School Supply Closet at Newark’s Abington Avenue School, which serves students in pre-K through eighth grade, to help ensure students and teachers were set up for success this September! ✏️ 📚

Thanks to our members, we donated everything from pens, pencils, markers, and crayons to brand-new backpacks and essential classroom supplies like paper towels, tissues, and hand sanitizer.

The Abington Avenue School team was thrilled with the contribution, and we’re already looking forward to our next restock! A special shout-out to our member Bryn for coordinating the donation and making the delivery — thank you for your time and effort ❤️

Today, we remember the lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001, honor the courage of the first responders and countless others who served, and reflect on the strength and compassion shown by communities across our region and throughout our country.

Here in Montclair and Newark, we are especially mindful of our neighbors whose lives were forever changed that day. We will never forget. ❤️

This month’s GMM brought together conversation, learning, and action.

As we recognize Sexual Violence Awareness Month, we were honored to be joined by two incredible community partners — Ess*x County Center for Family Justice and SANORA.

They shared more about the critical work they do every day to support individuals experiencing intimate partner violence, domestic violence, s*x trafficking, and those navigating the path to healing from trauma. Their insights grounded us in both the reality of these challenges and the responsibility we have to show up with care, awareness, and action.

We also want to recognize the important work of S**C, who are leading efforts across the state to strengthen prevention and response systems ahead of the World Cup — helping ensure we are better equipped to protect and support our most vulnerable communities.

And we didn’t stop at listening.

Together, we put that learning into action by assembling Hope Kits — providing essential items for individuals being brought out of s*x trafficking and into safety. Small acts, with the intention of meeting people in a moment that can feel overwhelming, and offering dignity, comfort, and support.

Grateful for our partners, and for a community that continues to lean in, learn, and take action.
