Last night’s Call to Honor Awards & Recognition Banquet was a powerful reminder of the dedication and sacrifice shown every day by emergency responders who serve our communities. It was an evening spent celebrating the men and women who answer the call, support those in need, and make a lasting difference throughout Muskegon County.

For the Montague Fire District, it was especially meaningful to see three of our own recognized for their service and commitment to the community. Firefighter Drake Roesler was honored as Firefighter of the Year, Firefighter Ken Byrne was recognized for his leadership and dedication to firefighter wellness through FireFit, and Captain Jonathon Degen received the Distinguished EMS Cross for his leadership in both fire and EMS service.

These recognitions reflect the compassion, professionalism, and commitment our firefighters bring to the community every single day. We could not be more proud of Drake, Ken, and Jonathon for representing the Montague Fire District so well and for the positive impact they continue to make on the community we serve. Congratulations to all!

It’s been 10 weeks since we kicked off our Fire Fit program, and these dedicated individuals continue to show up to workout week after week. Their commitment to improving their health, pushing their limits, and becoming better prepared to serve as firefighters has been incredible to watch.
Proud of the consistency and effort this group brings every time, this is what it’s all about! 🚒🚒

Last night the Montague Fire District assisted Dalton Township Fire Department, alongside many other departments across the county, as part of a tanker task force response.
We responded with 4 personnel and two tenders, providing an initial water delivery of 5,500 gallons. Both tenders operated continuously dumping water at a portable water supply setup established at the scene and refilling at a nearby hydrant until the fire was brought under control. Our personnel also assisted with fire suppression efforts on scene. This incident presented challenges, including a long driveway that required water supply operations to be established at the road. Water was then relayed more than 2,000 feet through multiple fire engines to reach the scene.
We are always proud to support our neighboring departments and know that same support will be there for us when needed. We commend the teamwork and collaboration of all departments involved. Our thoughts are with the family affected by this loss of property.

A big thank you to Ice Mountain Natural Spring Water for donating 78 cases of water to the Montague Fire District! This will go a long way in helping our crews stay hydrated during fire and rescue responses.
We also want to recognize Captain Jonathon Degen for applying for and facilitating this donation. Thank you to Sergeant Daniel Roesler for taking time out of his day and using his personal truck to pick everything up, we appreciate the extra effort!

This Women’s History Month, we’re proud to take a moment to highlight the women serving as part of Montague Fire District. We routinely recognize and discuss the contributions of our team members, but feel it’s important to also share that recognition with our community.

We currently have three members on our team who represent different stages of the fire service journey, each contributing to the department in their own way. All three have shown a strong commitment to learning, teamwork, and serving our community, and we’re proud to have them as part of Montague Fire.

Please join us in recognizing their hard work and dedication! 🚒🚒
