Record breaking renewables growth in Michigan with promised rate reductions , actually the cornerstone of their marketing ......YET , a rate increase , AGAIN . The December rate hike not enough ???

Do not believe what comes out of the mouths of utility companies and energy developers , they are not our financial saviors

DTE Energy is seeking a 10% electricity rate increase to fund upgrades to the grid it says will reduce power outages.

As stated in this article , there is an alternative route for these huge transmission lines. That route does not include bulldozing , bisecting an established private runway , several farm fields , and destroying protected wetlands . Michigan's energy plan was rushed without debate or bipartisan support , is inadequate , will not save consumers $ ( all utilities are on constant rate hikes ) and is irresponsible in the destruction of rural Michigan. We deserve better

The high-voltage transmission lines are key to a decarbonized future and a more reliable grid, boosters say, but that's little comfort for property owners along the route.

A glimpse into what is coming to Michigan in November when the new siting law takes effect . Our communities will no longer have a say of placement and size of big solar . As if the strain on energy by big corporations like Amazon and Google is not enough to power their warehouses, communities have a new foe to push back - data centers for AI - most need a minimum of 100MW which equals 800 - 1000 acres , and there are plans for smaller projects to be placed in cities . This video truly shows a visual of what is coming to my township , it is horrific to look at , entire communities decimated forever . An no talk of community solar , parking lots or increased subsidies for private .

Farmland should be the last resort - brownfields and community solar should be priority

Why are solar companies covering fertile farm ground with solar panels instead of covering the massive data centers and warehouses of big tech companies? It'...

Let's talk "local control"

Local control refers to the ability of local governments and communities to make decisions regarding the approval, regulation, and siting of industrial solar, wind, and battery storage facilities within their jurisdiction. This means that each community can have different regulations and siting of these industrial facilities that best fits and serves their community.

Thank you to everyone who sent comments to the Michigan Public Service Commission on the draft law for Solar and wind placement!

It’s crucial we have a voice in what would drastically impact our community and those across the State.

This law, which removes the ability of individual townships from using their own ordinances in the placement of wind and solar, has the ability of decimating White River Township as well as communities across the State.

Rural communities need to be treated fairly. People make their homes here because of the wide open spaces and natural beauty. Kids growing up here don’t have parks. Their parks are their own backyards-and over 85 of those backyards in our community would be surrounded by wire fencing and solar panels. To force people to live in an industrial setting this way is grossly irresponsible.

Properly placing solar and wind requires integrating it-with acreage caps, proper setbacks, screening using trees, etc.

We will continue to fight for our community and will post next steps soon.

Our State must curtail this indiscriminate onslaught on our Pure Michigan. Renewables must be done right. Otherwise, it’s just a generational mistake waiting to happen.
