🚴‍♂️🚨ROLL & RIDE RODEO RECAP! 🚨🚴‍♂️

What a great turnout Saturday at City Park for the first-ever MBPD Roll & Ride bike/e-bike/scooter safety rodeo!

A special thanks to our City of Mont Belvieu partners at Parks & Recreation, Fire Department and Eagle Pointe Recreation for helping make this event a success.

It was great seeing families, kids, and community members come together for a day focused on fun ways to compete and learn about bike, e-bike, and scooter safety in Mont Belvieu.

With the help of our own MBPD Bicycle Unit, riders learned how to turn, stop, maneuver, and safely ride.

The day ended with a controlled community ride from City Park to Chick-fil-A Barbers Hill and we look forward to more opportunities in the future.

Thanks Mont Belvieu, for making this such a great community to live, learn, work, and play in!

Wishing all Moms a Happy Mother’s Day today, but especially those women wearing the badge. Juggling the pressures of police work, shift work, and weekend duty, while still being focused on just being Mom can be overwhelming. Thanks for what you do.

Stay Aware. Stay Safe — always wear a helmet when using your eBike or eScooter. And if you’re a motorist, keep a sharp-eye out for wayward scooters and eBikers. A few simple safety choices can prevent tragedy and help everyone get home safely. 🚲🛴

🚨CONSTRUCTION SITE THEFTS AVERTED! 🚨Moving made easy didn’t turn out so well this time.

Friday morning at 12:43 a.m., an alert citizen reported suspicious activity at a large commercial construction site located in the 9200 block of Edgewood.

MBPD Night Shift units responded and began looking for a U-Haul truck that had left the scene pulling a large flatbed trailer. A nearby Chambers County Sheriff's deputy also moved into the area to assist, and the truck/trailer was located and stopped at Eagle Drive at Lakes of Champions Blvd.

Subsequent on-scene investigation by officers determined that the flatbed trailer had been stolen from the job site, as well as a large construction implement that was recovered in the U-Haul box truck. Further investigation at the job-site revealed extensive damages to other equipment that had been tampered with in an attempt to steal them.

Both subjects in the U-Haul; 26-year old Fernando Ibarra of Houston, and 28-year old Alejandro Escuadra, also of Houston TX, were subsequently arrested and charged with felony theft, possession of controlled substance, and possession of ma*****na.

Thanks to an alert citizen who saw something and said something, a significant theft was averted and suspects charged. Great teamwork between citizens and law enforcement!
