BEING PART OF THE SOLUTION!!

Dear Friends,

One of the lessons that I teach Blake and Will is that they are either part of the solution or they are part of the problem. Sitting idly by is also just being part of the problem. This is something that I am guilty of.

About 15 years ago, our local school committee was in absolute disarray and lacked any credibility. I joined the school committee at that time with the goal of restoring not only its credibility but also its efficacy. It took several years and a lot of work but I had been told by our Mass. Association of School Committees representative that, under my leadership, Monson was the example used for other school committees to strive to be like. Perhaps the greatest thing that I did was to encourage a then principal to strive to achieve the qualifications needed to move forward with her career. Her love and dedication for our kids was exactly what I felt we needed. A few years later, I championed and was able to hire Dr. Cheryl Clark as our superintendent and she, by far, was my greatest accomplishment to benefit our children and their education.

Although I have certainly enjoyed being “in retirement” from public service, the time has come for me to stop sitting idly by and to again be part of the solution. I have taken out papers to run for the selectboard position up for election this June.

When I first became a part of the school committee, I had no children and no vested interest in the schools other than knowing that good schools make a good community. The same is true now as good town government also makes for a good community and being a father gives me even more desire to make our community as great as it can be.

I would like to ask for all of you for your support as I know I can make the needed positive difference for each and every family in Monson. If elected, please know I would welcome your thoughts and advice and even criticisms because this endeavor will take more than just me. It will take all of us!

With respect and warm regards,

Jeff

Hey neighbors,

Our upcoming local election is June 11, 2024 at which there will be contested seats for the various positions for the opportunity to serve on committees/boards. Please this is a very important election for us all to take part in and I urge all of my fellow Monson residents to register and to vote! Remember, we have no right to complain about how things are if we don’t vote for those we trust to make things better!

Massachusetts residents may register to vote at the Town Clerk’s Office any weekday during business hours. Special voter registration hours are provided twenty (20) days before any election or annual Town meeting. For special Town meetings, the deadline to register to vote is ten (10) days before ...

Hi everyone,

This evening, I will be going in front of the Monson Board of Selectmen to ask their assistance in helping pay for bus transportation for a group of third and fourth grade basketball players from Monson to attend a weeklong training session during April vacation. The intensive workshop is in Enfield, Connecticut, which is about 45 minutes away and last year the bonding and teambuilding that happened on the bus ride to and from the training was truly invaluable and we would very much like to be able to do this again if we can get help from the board.

I would like to ask all of my Monson resident friends (if you are able) to please come to the meeting tonight at 7 PM at Townhall. We are the second item on the agenda if you’re able to get there and support this request, I would really appreciate your help . Thank you so very much.

Dear friends from Monson,
I’m asking if you can please attend the meeting of the planning board on April 18 at 7 PM to support our hope to be granted the ability to classify the property at one Green Street as a three unit building. It has been classified as one apartment and three offices for quite some time , but as you all know, apartments are much more in demand than office space since most people work from home now and office space in Monson tends to go vacant for a very long time. As I’m sure you can all be certain that Nick and I will make three absolutely beautiful apartments which are so badly needed in our community. Thank you all so very much. Please mark your calendars!

Last evening I decided to watch the “Masque of the Red Death” and while watching the Senate’s bungled deliberations over an aid package I could not help but to see so many similarities between the theme in the movie and the theme in how some are handling our own Red Death. A very interesting movie for certain and worth another view of it!!
