We are so fortunate as a department to have part-time staff with such diverse backgrounds. At Gregg we have made a lot of changes lately and one of those happens to be adding drones to the department. One of our team members is not only an aircraft pilot, but also an experienced drone pilot. Our primary pilot was kind enough to spend her holiday doing some flight training with our crews. Drones are a huge asset to emergency services with search operations and assessments in large area incidents. We have ability to now operate with live camera views and Infrared and thermal imaging through live feed as well. This is a tool to help by increasing safety of our personnel and the community!

We keep posting pictures about our membership doing training. Tonight is no different.

We are striving to make ourselves better each and every day. Tonight some of our members as well as members from Monroe Twp Fire District were lucky enough to have IFD Captain Jim Pierce talk to the crews about arson investigations for the first responder.

Thanks to everyone for your time tonight, and of course Thanks to Captain Pierce for passing on some of your knowledge.

Our members are constantly working on training and preparing themselves for the next emergency coming our way. During the month of April we had over 180 hours of logged training. Here are a few pictures of our crews working to prepare themselves for you. We can't say Thanks enough to our group of growing volunteers. If you are looking for a way to give back give us a call as we are always looking for more help.

Members of our department are always working on training to better prepare themselves to be able to respond when needed. This week one of our newer members Shiloh attended a surface and Swiftwater classes being hosted by Bargersville FD and being taught by Do It Right Diving, Chief Stecher and a few other members of our department.

Great Job to all of the students especially our very own Shiloh!!! 🚣‍♀️

This past weekend some of our instructors had the opportunity to assist with a live fire training at Martinsville’s fire training tower. The burn was conducted as part of the Fire 1&2 course being hosted by Paragon VFD. The course utilized instructors from all over the region. We are always thankful to participate in these trainings. A huge thanks to Martinsville Fire for providing a great training environment for students and instructors!

Overnight While You Were Sleeping

Engine 122 and Chief 1202, along with Morgan County EMS Medic 950, responded to a motor vehicle crash on State Road 142 west of Wilbur.

Upon arrival, crews found one vehicle off the roadway in a wooded area. The patient had self-extricated prior to our arrival and was transported by EMS to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Even though open burning is permitted, conditions are dry right now as we move into spring. If you choose to burn, please be cautious—have water or a hose on hand, monitor the fire at all times, and stay updated on any changing weather or burn bans. Safety is our top priority—so please stay vigilant."

Tonight crews took advantage of the beautiful weather and got in some wildland refresher training. Crews reviewed hand tool usage, pump operations and water conservation. We also discussed fire line management and safety. Spring and Fall tend to be our busiest brush fire seasons and we remind everyone to use caution if burning outdoors. Gregg Township has two brush trucks and a UTV we maintain ready to respond when the community needs us!
