We provide all residents in Monroe County, Alabama with opportunities to pursue lifelong learning, information, and cultural enrichment.

As of 1 June 2023, our new hours will be 9-5 every week day and 9-noon on Saturdays, with this exception: we will be open until 7PM on the evenings when we have scheduled activities. For example, our Painting with a Purpose teen art education class meets on the first and third Thursday evenings monthly. We will be open on those nights to accommodate that group.

Happy New Year Patrons! Our free public wifi is always on. Password is posted near our front door. Any items left in our blue book drop box during this week/weekend will be accepted without any fines being charged. Thank you for supporting your library all year long and we are looking forward to a wonderful 2026!

The Monroeville Chess Club is an adult chess club that will start meeting at the library on the second Saturday of January! Must have a current library card to participate and this is a free activity and partnership between the library and the Monroeville Chess Club. If you are interested in leading a YOUTH CHESS CLUB, please message the library and we will work together to get one going in February!

Our greatest gift all year long is our amazing patrons like Miss Ashanti Finklea who recently was gifted her own copy of The Night Before Christmas by Mrs. Claus. Ashanti is shown with Mrs. Claus, and her mother and family.
