Shortly after 1000 hours, the assignment was dispatched for a garage on fire in Co. 1’s first due. C-41 arrived on scene of a 3-Story townhome and established command. Engine 12 and Truck 4 arrived simultaneously and began investigating an extinguished fire in the garage. As the truck was placing ladders, Engine 41 arrived on scene, secured a water supply and advanced a back up line. Crews conducted overhaul with negative extension and performed mechanical ventilation to the unit before returning in service within an hour of dispatch.

Truck 4 is back in quarters after a garage fire in Co. 1’s first due just after noon today. Truck 4 operated as the first due truck, placing ground ladders, completing searches and opening up.

It certainly has remained steady around the firehouse over the last week between fire, rescue and EMS incidents. Members also found time to conduct training during the brief periods of nice weather.

A couple notable incidents over the last week:

Friday 03/13 - A significant wind storm rolled through the area which kept the department busy with calls.

Sunday 03/15 - Multiple companies operated on a large first due brush fire deep seated in the woods.

Thursday 03/19 - Engine 41 and Medic 47 operated on two incidents at the same location at the same time. The engine was initially dispatched for a fire alarm, soon after upgraded to a possible kitchen fire. At the same time, EMS crews worked a patient in cardiac arrest in the same building.

Thursday 03/19 cont. Rescue 4 responded into Wilmerding for an accident with entrapment where the crew assisted with stabilization and removing one trapped occupant.

Saturday 03/21 - Rescue 4 and EMS responded in the first due for a vehicle rollover.

Keeping Busy at The Big House 🏴‍☠️

As February comes to an end, Co. 4 has responded to 971 calls so far in 2026. Of these near thousand calls, 743 have been EMS and 228 have been Fire/Rescue.

Within the last five days, the company has responded to four fires, all relatively minor or quickly extinguished.

03/01 - Rescue 4 to Plum for a deck on fire.
02/27- Truck 4 to Co. 1’s area for a kitchen fire.
02/27 - Truck 4 to Wall for a house fire.
02/25 - Engine 42 to Plum for a house fire.

Another First Due Box 🔥

Approximately 3:30 this morning units were alerted to the 200 block of Cambridge Square Drive for smoke inside an apartment building. Police arrived and reported black smoke emitting from a top-floor apartment. Engine 41 and C-40 arrived with smoke showing on the A side of a three-story garden apartment. E-41 crew quickly deployed a line and performed primary searches. The fire was held in check by the sprinkler system and crews fully extinguished the fire, conducted secondary searches and checked for extension. Units were on scene for slightly over an hour.

Friday Fire Runs 🔥

So far the members of Co. 4 have handled 12 fire calls and 8 EMS calls for the day, including a first due apartment fire. Our commitment to maintaining staffed apparatus out the door goes farther than what’s posted on social media. We are extremely appreciative of our dedicated volunteers who continue to handle business 24 hours a day.

2 Alarm House Fire

As the snow began to fall, Rescue 4 was alerted to respond to the West Wilmerding section of North Versailles Township for two houses on fire. Rescue 4 (w/5) responded and maintained RIT for the duration of the incident. An additional suppression crew along with an EMS crew remained in quarters to staff the municipality.

First Due Extrication ✂️

Last evening as the members were about to conduct our weekly drill, the assignment was dispatched down the street from the firehouse for an accident with entrapment. Co. 4 units arrived on scene to find one vehicle overturned with one patient still inside. Rescue 4 quickly stabilized the vehicle and put our new Holmatro Rescue Tools in service. The patient was extricated within 8 minutes of arrival and transported to a local hospital.
