Today was another very busy day for the MVFD. We started our day early with our breakfast fundraiser lasting into the afternoon.

At 4:36pm the MVFD was dispatched on a request from Decatur Fire Department for tankers on a structure fire involving two massive, straw filled barns. Within 2 minutes, Tanker 34 and Tanker 33 were Decatur bound with 4 firefighters.

At 4:56pm the MVFD was dispatched to a wires down call in Monroe Township. Engine 32 and Grass Rig 39 were on the way immediately with 5 firefighters.

Later at 9:37pm the MVFD was dispatched on a possible detached garage fire in Jackson Township along with East Central Woodburn. Engine 32 and Tanker 34 were responding within 3 minutes with 7 firefighters, Fire 32 arrived finding a large wood pile burning behind a garage. The fire was extinguished before reaching the building.

Thank you to everyone for supporting us this morning at our breakfast. We are very proud to serve you and our neighbors when called upon! We are also thankful for our neighbors at Hoagland Volunteer Fire & EMS and East Central Fire & EMS for providing standby coverage for our area while also handling their own calls, and having units on the fire as well.

Between 11am and 5pm today, the MVFD responded to 6 calls for service. These calls included 2 separate semi rollovers on US 30, a motor vehicle collision involving multiple vehicles on State Road 101, and several power lines/poles down across roadways all throughout our area. Our 100% VOLUNTEER Firefighters were on the road in seconds of each call to 911, bouncing from incident to incident and handling each with professionalism and tact all afternoon for FREE!

We encourage you to come out for Breakfast with us from 8am to 1pm this Sunday. It is with the continued support from our amazing community that we can continue to serve you just as we did all day today!! We hope to see you there, and stay safe in this windy weather!
