Monroe Marshal’s Office led by Marshal Robert Cherry, Jr., had the pleasure of joining Monroe Housing Authority alone with Ms.Shelva Thomas on behalf of Director of Monroe Housing, William Smart and the Monroe Police Department. Ms. Thomas hosted a well organized and informative class. She is, as well as Monroe Police Department and other local agencies or bridging together to assist in making our communities safer and more pleasurable. CRIME has been on the rise here in our communities and the information received today was right on point. Monroe Housing Authority has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to decrease the crime rate in these areas over the last couple of years. Now, Monroe Police Department has come up with new ideas to lessen the crime in these areas by introducing a new piece of technology. BRING- Drone Initiative will soon be introduced in the area to help with crime. Monroe Housing Authority, offers a variety of services to the community. HI-SET is held at Burg Jones Lane Development, Literacy Garden with a harvest of vegetables, the Ross Grant for self sufficiency services also known as the STEM Project, Readiness classes like NOVA which is a 2 weeks program and OMCAP which Rev. John Russell is the program director.Monroe Housing Authority has 22 available openings for family housing. We were pleased to host and serve these exceptional women a delectable lunch, befitting their stature. The door prizes were generous, and the gifts were even more impressive. Marshal Cherry demonstrated his attention to detail by ensuring the dining area was tidy following the celebration. FREE CHILD CAR SEAT SAFETY CHECKS
Motor Vehicles crashes remain a leading cause of death for children. Yet many parents aren't sure if their child's car seat is installed correctly or if it's the right one for their child's size. That's why Marshal Robert Cherry, Jr. and the Monroe Marshal's Office is offering free car seat inspections and installation services provided by our Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians. Services are completely free and open to everyone. Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule: Call (318) 329-2585. Our goal is to help every family in our community to give their children the safest ride possible. We're here to educate and gladly assist.

Marshal Robert Cherry, Jr. and The Monroe Marshal's Office are dedicated to serving the community, which is evident from the appreciation expressed by community members for our services. A notable example is Mr. Wilson Wilson, a respected community pillar, retired military personnel, and Sunday school Superintendent at True Vine Baptist Church, among many other roles, who took the time to write a heartfelt note to the Marshal and his office. We here at the Monroe Marshal’s Office are forever grateful to the members of our community. We would like to let you know that we will continue our faithful duties in serving you.
