Our students spent an incredible first week in the DICE Lab learning exactly what it takes to think and create like an engineer. Before diving into building, they practiced vital foundational skills: clear communication, a strong growth mindset, proper use of materials, and the lab expectations that will guide them all year long.
Here is a look at what each grade level accomplished during their first lab challenges:
🌋 Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Students learned about lava and used their imaginations to design creative solutions to save their toy bears from the "lava."
🔗 2nd Grade: Students took on the Longest Paper Chain Challenge. They practiced resilience and learned how to "pivot" and change their strategies when their original designs didn't work out.
🌀 3rd & 4th Grade: Students tackled the Pool Noodle Challenge to build unique structures, which included the tough task of engineering the first letter of their own names!
Mrs. Homer is so proud of the concentration, communication, collaboration, and creativity that was shown by all of our students this week. It is going to be an amazing year of innovation!
