Stepney Fire Department Founded in 1917, Stepney Fire Department is the longest serving volunteer fire company within the Town of Monroe The Stepney Vol.

The Stepney Volunteer Fire Company is one of three fire companies in the Town of Monroe, located about 10 miles north of Bridgeport, CT. Our response area consists of 26 square miles and a population of over 20,000. We operate from 2 stations using three engines, a truck, a heavy rescue, a utility and a chief's vehicle. Currently we are the only Ladder Company in the Town of Monroe. The fire compa

ny's primary coverage area includes the following sections of Monroe: Stepney, Stevenson and Monroe Center. We also provide coverage to the Towns of Trumbull, Easton, Newtown and Shelton on a mutual aide basis. Fire Company is dedicated to protecting the lives and property of the residents of the Town of Monroe and will continue to do so for many years to come.

Last night Stepney entered UTV 110 and Engine Tanker 101 in the Firemen’s parade at Bridgewater Country Fair, and brought home the trophy for Best Appearing UTV

Stepney Fire was happy to stop by and support the Monroe Cheerleaders at their car wash fundraiser today!
Our Chief brought a fire truck along to help attract a little extra attention to the event and even rolled up his sleeves to help wash a few cars.
We’re always proud to support the young people and organizations that make our community so special. Great job, Monroe Cheerleaders, and thank you to everyone who stopped by to support them today! ❤️

This morning around 5:30am, Stepney was dispatched for a reported gas truck rolled over at the intersection of Hattertown Rd/Guinea Rd. Stepney Firefighters and Monroe CT Police Department arrived on scene to find a home heating oil truck rolled over actively leaking oil. There were no injuries reported to parties involved. It was found that the oil truck was full at 3,300 gallons. Immediate notifications were made to CT DEEP. Crews on scene attempted to control the oil leak with HAZMAT equipment but due to the volume of oil leaking, waterways being involved, and the heavy rain conditions, Fire personnel called for assistance from Monroe Volunteer Fire Department, No.1 Inc. and a response from The Monroe Fire Marshal along with a notification made to Fairfield County HAZMAT team, and responses from CT DEEP, Aquarion, Monroe DPW, Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service , and ACV/Republic. Representatives arrived on scene and quickly began environmental cleanup. Bud's Truck and Diesel Service Inc. arrived on scene for removal of the fuel truck. Crews remained on scene for about 4 hours until the the truck was removed from scene and the scene was handed over to CT DEEP. Environmental clean up is still underway, please expect delays in the area.
