STATEMENT:
These ugly ‘Expose Echols’ ads have started again, attacking Christie and I over our building projects.
Back in April, when these ads first started running, we weren’t quite sure whether Blake Miguez, Rick Edmonds or Misti Cordell were behind them (although we had a pretty good idea.)
Well, Blake and Rick are now in a different race and the return of these ads confirms what we originally thought.
Misti Cordell and her team are behind them.
That’s disappointing because I’ve known Misti for a long time. She’s my constituent and I consider her a friend. But what bothers me most is that these ads attack Christie and me over something we’re incredibly proud of.
We’ve put our hard-earned money, time and talent into giving downtown Monroe and Ruston the love they so desperately needed after years of neglect. We took risks, restored buildings and invested in communities we love.
Also, what really perplexes me is that Misti has been in these buildings. I’ve sat with her at the Hotel Monroe and at other developments. She’s congratulated us and offered warm words and accolades for taking on these projects for the communities I know we both love.
So the idea that she would now stoop to attacking that work just to win a seat in Congress is deeply disappointing and frankly hypocritical.
This race should be about the future of the 5th Congressional District, not innuendo and false narratives.
We’ll continue to pray for Misti and that she finds the courage to run on her own record instead of attacking ours.
