Village of Monroe Historic District

Village of Monroe Historic District The Village of Monroe Historic District is comprised of more than 30 structures and sites dating back to the 1700's. Originally Smith's Clove.

Originally the farm of David Smith, Smith's Clove became the Village of Monroe. The Village of Monroe Historic District was begun by local residents who had volunteered on the Centennial Committee. In 1998, after five years of public hearings and with the full endorsement of the Village planning board, the district was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
