🧵✨ Sew Happy Workshop for Adults ✨🧵

Interested in learning how to sew or brushing up on the basics? Join us for a hands-on sewing workshop with Kia Ward!

Kia will guide participants through basic sewing techniques while everyone works on their own practice sample. It's a great opportunity to build skills, gain confidence, and enjoy a creative evening at the library.

Dust off your brushes and grab your magnifying glasses—this year’s Summer Reading theme is… Dig Into the Past! 🌎📚

Join us as we travel through exciting times in world and American history with reading, activities, prizes, programs, and plenty of fun all summer long!

🦕 Weekly Time Travel Themes:
📍 July 6–12: Dinosaurs & Prehistoric Life
🏺 July 13–18: Ancient Civilizations
⚔️ July 20–26: Medieval Times
🎨 July 27–Aug. 2: Renaissance
🇺🇸 Aug. 3–9: 13 Colonies
⭐ Aug. 10–15: America

🎉 Summer Reading Kickoff Party
📅 Saturday, June 27
🕛 12:00–2:00 PM

Register for Summer Reading, enjoy live music from Pocket Change, play games, have snacks, and learn all about the exciting programs planned for this summer!

📖 Participants ages 0–18 will receive a special Summer Reading “Field Guide” to track their travels through time. Read, complete activities, attend programs, earn stamps, collect prizes, and take virtual field trips throughout the summer!

✨ Weekly prizes will be awarded for completed reading progress, and participants can earn raffle tickets by attending library programs.

📌 Please note: Program registration opens weekly on the Monday prior.

If you can’t make the kickoff party, registration will remain open at the library after June 27. Check-ins begin Monday, July 6!

🏆📚 Exciting news! 📚🏆 Monroe Free Library’s Head of Marketing, Elizabeth Walraven, has been awarded the 2026 American Library Association (ALA) PR Xchange Award in the Special Events category for libraries with budgets between $1–$5 million.

Her winning “born digital” submission, “1970s Disco Party – A Signature Event of Monroe Free Library’s Decades Series,” was selected among more than 236 entries submitted by libraries across the country. Entries were judged on creativity, originality, design, and overall quality by a panel of marketing professionals, librarians, graphic designers, and visual artists.

We are incredibly proud to see Monroe Free Library recognized on a national level for innovative library programming and marketing! ✨🕺💙

🧁✨ What a sweet afternoon at our Teen Advisory Board’s Cupcake Wars last Saturday! ✨🧁

The entire library was filled with laughter, creativity, friendly competition, and some seriously delicious smells. 🍰💙 Teens showed off amazing decorating skills and imaginative cupcake creations while having a great time together.
