Today, we proudly celebrated the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the $6.2 Million Reinvestment & Modernization of Burg Jones Plaza ✂️🏘️🎉

As the largest public housing community in the City of Monroe, Burg Jones Plaza consists of 302 housing units and serves as home to hundreds of residents and families throughout our community. This transformational project included Phase I renovations of 84 units and Phase II renovations of 63 units, representing a major investment into the future of affordable housing in Monroe. 🏡✨

The ceremony was filled with community leaders, partners, stakeholders, residents, and supporters who came together to celebrate this incredible milestone and the continued commitment to providing safe, modern, and quality housing for the families we serve. 🤝🏽💙

This project represents more than bricks and mortar — it reflects hope, revitalization, and the power of collaboration. Investments like these strengthen neighborhoods, improve quality of life, and create environments where residents can live with dignity, pride, and opportunity. 🌟

Thank you to every partner, contractor, elected official, staff member, and resident who helped make this vision a reality. Together, we are continuing to build stronger communities and brighter futures for Monroe. 🏘️💫

This morning, the Monroe Housing Authority hosted an Appreciation Breakfast & Discussion with the dedicated Officers of the Monroe Police Department 🚔☕🏡

The morning was filled with meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and appreciation as we celebrated the strong partnership between MHA and our Service Officers who work daily to help keep our communities safe and secure. Their presence, commitment, and willingness to engage with residents continues to make a difference throughout our developments. 🤝🏽💙
Discussions included an overview of crime trends impacting our communities, the rollout of our Zero Tolerance initiatives regarding crime, smoking, fighting, and violence, as well as concerns surrounding criminal activity brought into our communities by non-lease holders. These conversations are critical as we remain focused on protecting our residents and preserving safe, decent, and peaceful housing environments for all. 🚫🚭⚠️

Thank you to the Monroe Police Department and every Service Officer for your partnership, dedication, and continued support of the families we serve. Together, we are building stronger and safer communities! 💙🏘️✨

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting our very first Retired Properties Residential Council Meeting for our amazing residents ages 62+ 👵🏾👴🏾. This important gathering provided updates on occupancy, compliance, construction, resident services, and community safety 🚧📋🏘️🚔.

Transparent communication and meaningful engagement are essential to ensuring our seniors feel valued, respected, and connected to the communities they call home. 🤝🏾✨

Residents enjoyed a delicious lunch from Javi P’s 🍽️ and each person received a beautiful spring flower 🌷 as a small token of appreciation for the wisdom, strength, and contributions they bring to our communities every day.

Serving our senior residents is both an honor and a responsibility. We remain committed to providing safe, affordable housing and creating vibrant communities where our elders can thrive. 💐🏠❤️

McKeen Plaza was actively engaged today in ensuring our residents continue to live in safe, decent, and well-maintained housing through wellness checks conducted this morning. 🏡✨

This afternoon, we hosted a Community meeting to provide residents with important clarification on the Monroe Housing Authority’s Zero Tolerance Policy regarding crime, smoking, fighting, and violence. We discussed what it means to disrupt the peaceful enjoyment of our communities and the serious implications of lease violations.

A special thank you to Sergeant Heckard of the Monroe Police Department for partnering with us to support our communities and educate residents on the importance of safety, accountability, and working together to maintain peaceful neighborhoods. 👮🏽‍♂️🤝🏽
