After 30 years of welcoming students, families and staff through the doors of Monroe Junior High and High School, we’re celebrating the retirement of Mrs. Pam Miller!

Over the years, Pam has been a part of countless memories in the halls of Monroe, but the moments closest to her heart have been watching her own children and grandchildren grow up in the district she’s proudly called home for three decades. She also shared how meaningful it has been to see Monroe teachers and administrators pour so much care, support and encouragement into the students who needed it most.

As retirement begins, Pam is looking forward to slowing down a bit, reading more books, caring for her mother, and spending time with her younger grandchildren out west.

Pam’s advice reflects the work ethic and heart she brought to Monroe each and every day: always give your best, work with purpose, and take pride in what you do.

Thank you, Mrs. Miller, for 30 years of dedication, kindness and steady support for the Monroe community. The care you showed to students, staff and families over the years has left a lasting impact on Hornet Country! 🐝

After 20 years at Monroe and 30 years in education, we’re celebrating the retirement of Mr. Jay Hopkins!

As the leader of Monroe’s Project Lead the Way program, Jay has spent the last two decades helping students think critically, solve problems and prepare for the future. When asked about his favorite memory, he shared that it was never about one single moment, but rather “being a part of something bigger” and the many experiences, relationships and memories built along the way.

Retirement for Jay sounds pretty simple: enjoy the two best seasons of the year—spring and fall—travel a little, and maybe even relax for once. As for getting another job? “Nahhhhh!” 😂

Jay also leaves behind some unforgettable words of wisdom: “When times are trying, throw your hands in the air, beg for mercy, then spin around real fast. Guess what? It will still be there, but if you spin fast enough, at least you will be dizzy.”

Thank you, Mr. Hopkins, for the creativity, humor and steady leadership you brought to Monroe over the years. Your impact on our students will be felt for years to come. 🐝

After 23 years of caring for and supporting Monroe Elementary students, we’re celebrating the retirement of Mrs. Patti Kellis!

Over the years, Patti has been part of countless special memories, but the ones that stand out most are the “aha” moments when students finally realized what they were capable of. She also treasures the relationships she built throughout her time at Monroe, including one especially meaningful memory: seeing her granddaughter smiling at her on her very first day of second grade.

Though retirement marks the end of one chapter, Patti says it’s not the end of her story. While she’s not exactly sure what comes next, she hopes the future includes opportunities to continue helping others.

Patti leaves Monroe with advice that perfectly reflects the heart she brought to her work each day: “Always embrace the chaos. Celebrate the tiny victories. Remember every school employee has a superpower called flexibility. I know it’s hard, but try to look past the behaviors and see the students who count on you for a safe place.”

Thank you, Mrs. Kellis, for the compassion, patience and steady support you’ve given to generations of Monroe students. Your impact will continue to be felt in the countless lives you helped along the way. 🐝

It's amazing how quickly letters on a page can turn into laugher in a classroom. 🥹

A few weeks ago, Mrs. Eckley's second graders had the opportunity to visit with their high school pen pals from the Monroe Interact Club in person. After writing back and forth to each other throughout the school year, it was a great opportunity for these old friends to catch up. 🫶
