With all rare events, there are many variables and unknowns. The April 8, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse is officially one week away, and the one thing we do know for certain is that it is always easier (and more enjoyable) to navigate new experiences if you have the basics🍼💊🛒 taken care of. Make sure you have the things you need that day in advance just so you wouldn’t have to fight 🚗🚗🚗 if it happens to get congested. Doing this can help reduce unnecessary stress and will help make this once-in-a-lifetime spectacular sight a positive experience to remember.

Plus, good snacks make everything better, so make sure you remember to grab plenty of those for wherever your watch party is happening at. 😎🍔🍿🍬🥤

[4:50 AM] A significant severe weather event is expected today. We will have one round of storms this morning, and additional storms this afternoon and evening. All types of severe weather are possible, with a risk of strong tornadoes this afternoon.

Today is a day to be sure you have a way to receive warning information!

tip for older adults: Make sure at least one person in your support network has an extra key to your home, knows where you keep your emergency supplies, and knows how to use lifesaving equipment or administer medicine.

Did you know that carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air? That's why it's important to place detectors on a wall about 5 feet above the floor. You can also place them on the ceiling for added safety. Remember, keep the detectors away from fireplaces and appliances and out of reach of pets and children. Don't forget to have a separate detector on each floor. And if you're getting a single detector, make sure it's near your sleeping area and has a loud enough alarm to wake you up.
