***CASE UPDATE***
MONONA POLICE DEPARTMENT
NEWS RELEASE: Wanted Person/ Terminated Pursuit
CASE NUMBER: MO26-00369
INCIDENT DATE: January 10, 2026 at 01:42am
Reference the ongoing investigation from the above incident that took place on January 10, 2026, MOPD established probable cause for the arrest of Daquan A. Thompson, 21, Madison.
A warrant was issued for Mr. Thompson, who was also an absconder from the WI Dept of Corrections (Community Supervision).
On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the US Marshals Service - Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (GLRFTF) and members of MOPD worked to track down Mr. Thompson at a motel on the east side of Madison. Thompson resisted arrest, but was successfully taken into custody. He was also found to be in possession of a handgun and a sizeable quantity of illegal drugs.
Mr. Thompson was booked into the Dane County Jail on his warrant. He was charged by the Dane County DA for multiple felony offenses, including Attempted Flee or Eluding, 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Possession with Intent to Deliver Co***ne, and Possession of Narcotics.
Mr. Thompson has an extensive criminal conviction history that includes Felony Eluding (2021); Burglary (2021 & 2022), Felon in Possession of a Firearm (2024), and other serious offenses. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty on charges arising from this most recent investigation.
MOPD would like to thank the US Marshals Service for working together to keep Monona and our region safe.
Of note - Mr. Shondrell Evans, who was taken into custody by MPD last month, is no longer a person of interest in the MOPD case. He remains in jail on his parole violation and charges stemming from an unrelated weapons offense investigated by our colleagues MPD (see CCAP). He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
_______________
No, we didn't forget about the fact that Mr. Thompson, a multi-convicted felon, was once again found to be armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest.
The violation just so happens to be a federal crime as well (the drugs too). And as we do in many cases involving fi****ms, we are consulting with our law enforcement partners. IYKYK
