Earlier today, on this 25th Anniversary of September 11th, 2001, members of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary (including AUX Amanda Prascsak of Flotilla 02-06) supported the Active Duty crew of the US Coast Guard Cutter Jeffrey Palazzo in giving free public tours of one of the service’s newest vessels—built in June 2026. The purpose of the tours was to educate visitors about the cutter’s namesake, Jeffrey Palazzo, who was an Active Duty Coastguardsman turned New York City Firefighter and Coast Guard Reservist. On 9/11/2001, as a member of FDNY’s elite Rescue Squad 5 from Staten Island, he made the ultimate sacrifice while trying to save others endangered by the terrorist attacks. It will be officially commissioned on tomorrow, September 12th, and its missions in the Pacific will ensure that Jeffrey Palazzo’s great, courageous legacy will always be remembered.
