Today was an exciting day at Monett Intermediate School as students welcomed special visitors from the zoo!

Bridget from Dickerson Park Zoo brought an African pancake tortoise, a blue-tongued skink, and a chinchilla for students to meet up close. Through this interactive presentation, students learned about each animal’s habitat, unique adaptations, and diet while gaining a greater appreciation for wildlife and conservation. 🐢🦎🐭

Students in Mrs. Htoo's summer school class have been exploring physical and chemical changes through hands-on experiments that make learning both fun and engaging.

The class began by making slime, observing the chemical reaction that occurs when school glue and a borax solution are combined.

Next, students made homemade butter. Using just one ounce of heavy whipping cream and about seven minutes of vigorous shaking, they watched the cream separate into solid butter and liquid buttermilk, demonstrating a physical change.

We thank Shoe Sensation for their generous $1,000 donation to Care to Learn during their grand opening celebration last week!

Care to Learn helps meet students' immediate health, hunger, and hygiene needs so they can stay focused on learning and thriving in the classroom. Through this partnership, students can receive support for essentials such as food, clothing, shoes, hygiene items, and other urgent needs that may otherwise create barriers to their education.

We are grateful for community partners like Shoe Sensation who invest in the well-being and success of our students. Your generosity helps ensure that every child has the resources they need to learn, grow, and succeed. 💜💛🐻

We are grateful for Ronda Roberts and her years of service to Monett Schools!

Ronda Roberts has been such a blessing to MIS. She is dependable, caring, and always willing to help wherever she is needed. Teachers appreciate how well she notices when students need a break, extra support, or an accommodation, and how she shares those observations with the supervising teacher. Ronda is professional, flexible, and truly cares about the students she serves. We are so thankful for all she has done and wish her the very best in retirement! - By Jennifer Wallace

Please join us in celebrating Ronda and wishing her well in retirement by leaving a kind message in the comments below.

Students in Mrs. Htoo’s fifth-grade class are putting their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test during an Egg Drop Challenge. Through observation, experimentation, and design, students are learning how scientific concepts can be applied to real-world situations.

From planning and building to testing and improving their designs, this hands-on activity encourages critical thinking, teamwork, and perseverance. Most importantly, students are discovering that learning can be both challenging and fun.
