Bedford Franklin Area Tea Party Runaway deficit spending and irresponsible and covert spending and taxation that we now see in Washington, D.C.

Fiscal Responsibility:

Fiscal Responsibility by government honors and respects the freedom of the individual to spend the money that is the fruit of their own labor. A constitutionally limited government, designed to protect the blessings of liberty, must be fiscally responsible or it must subject its citizenry to high levels of taxation that unjustly restrict the liberty our Constitution was des

igned to protect. and in our state and local governments compels us to take action as they are a grave threat to our national sovereignty, our economic viability and the personal and economic liberty of future generations. Constitutionally Limited Government:

As Patrick Henry stated so succinctly, "The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government." In fact, the Constitution already provides recourse to any official, citizen or group desiring a change to the structure or limits on government through the process of Amendment. Activist judges, over reaching Representatives and unaccountable administrators have intentionally bypassed this process in order to bypass the people. George Washington cautioned us, "Government is not reason, it is not eloquent, it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." It is once again time for the people to become the master, to diminish the size and scope of government, to tie its purse strings permanently, and to forever limit the reach and authority of any individual - elected or appointed. We, the patriots of the BFATP are inspired by our founding documents and regard the Constitution of the United States to be the supreme law of the land. We believe that it is possible to know the original intent of the government our founders set forth, and stand in support of that intent. Like the founders, we support states' rights for those powers not expressly stated in the Constitution. As the government is of the people, by the people and for the people, in all other matters we support personal liberty of the individual, within the rule of law. Free Markets:

Inextricably linked to the concept of limited government is the natural right of the individual to profit as much as possible by his own labors. It is therefore essential that the right to individual property and prosperity not be hindered but actively promoted as a specific purpose of government. John Adams wrote clearly in 1776 that "Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people." The happiness and prosperity of the people must then be left to the people, free to pursue their own goals in accordance with their own choices. America has proven for three centuries that this unhindered pursuit unlocks the natural human genius to develop new ideas, create new devices, find new resources and advance new solutions to the challenges of each new era. Our current government's interference distorts the free market and inhibits the pursuit of individual and economic liberty. Therefore, we support a return to the free market principles on which this nation was founded and oppose government intervention into the operations of private business.
