At approximately 1730 hours today, a multi-vehicle collision was reported on Interstate 20 at mile marker 73 westbound. Initial responding units were dispatched based on reports of a large pileup.

While en route, additional information indicated that more vehicles were involved than originally reported. Based on these updates, the incident was upgraded to a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI).

Additional agencies from surrounding jurisdictions were requested to assist due to the number of patients requiring transport. Multiple patients were treated on scene and transported to area medical facilities. A big thank you to our neighbors Reeves County Emergency Service Districts Nos. 1 & 2 for sending their ambus and an ambulance, Winkler County EMS sending two ambulances, Rankin County Hospital District EMS one ambulance to help cover the city and county for any 911 calls, AeroCare 10 - Pecos, TX for responding an transporting a patient to Odessa Medical Center. Other patients being transported to surrounding hospitals. To our local fire department Monahans Volunteer Fire Department and Wickett Volunteer Fire Department was a huge help assisting EMS personnel. We can not brag enough about our police officer Ward County Sheriff's Office was also a huge help to our crews.
