Dispensing Equipment Alliance (DEA) is a non-profit membership organization that was formed as a chapter of IAPMO in 2015.

DEA Members participated in the Workgroup to update the ASSE 1055 Standard for Chemical Dispensing Systems with Integral Backflow Protection. Industry experts provided technical guidance and worked collaboratively with ASSE Members to ensure the safety of drinking water when connected to chemical dispensers. This partnership ensures all aspects are heard and given voice to making the standard the best document to follow for chemical dispensing systems. Now it will cover both the United States and Canada. DEA is proud to work with ASSE to protect the safety and health of the citizens of these two countries.

IAPMO® and ASSE International have published the ANSI/CAN/ASSE/IAPMO 1055-2020: Performance Requirements for Chemical Dispensers with Integral Backflow Protection, as both an American National Standard and National Standard of Canada, and is available for purchase through the IAPMO Online Store or through the ASSE International webstore.

ASSE 1055 is one of the standards included in this agreement. The standard covers chemical dispensing equipment with integral backflow prevention.

ASSE International and the Standards Institution of Israel (SII) have entered into an agreement for SII to license two ASSE standards for adoption in Israel. This will allow SII to easily adopt ASSE standards for the Israel market, preventing the need for the development of duplicative international standards. http://ow.ly/Ym0f50APCow

Members of the Dispensing Equipment Alliance working with others on the ASSE 1055 Standard update, provided comments on how new language would help clarify the standard. Not only is the standard for use in the United States but will also be the guiding document used in Canada with IAPMO's ability to write Canadian Standards. Once again, the working together of these organizations have allowed input on chemical dispensing equipment that help protect the health and safety of the public.

DEA had scheduled a presentation on ASSE 1055 with the New Hampshire plumbing inspectors but due to travel concerns the presentation will be scheduled for a later day. DEA is still looking forward to working with the inspectors and showing exactly how products certified to ASSE 1055 protect the health and safety of the public.
