The Berks County Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10th, at 3:00 PM. This will be an in-person meeting held at the County of Berks South Campus, 1st Floor Large Conference Room, 400 E. Wyomissing Ave., Mohnton.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Imagine Berks Comprehensive Plan Regional Meetings. The Planning Commission appreciates the time, feedback, and local insights shared throughout the planning process.
Participation included:
• Representatives from 43 of Berks County's 72 municipalities
• Representatives from 7 of the County's 18 school districts
• All 3 County Commissioners
• 6 state and federal elected officials and representatives
The information gathered during these meetings will help shape the future vision, goals, and implementation strategies for the Imagine Berks Comprehensive Plan.

FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure Communities (BRIC) (Due July 23rd) - A hazard mitigation program that makes federal funds available to local governments for hazard mitigation activities, such as upgrading and modernizing infrastructure for natural hazard resilience.

Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture's Dirt, Gravel, and Low Volume Road Maintenance Program (Deadline varies by county conservation district) - Provides money and training to communities for local road maintenance to address non-point source pollution. Communities should reach out to their Conservation District to learn more information about the deadline and application process. Contact the Berks County Conservation District.

Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) (Rolling; next application cut-off date is July 29, 2026 - learn more) - Funds sewer, stormwater, and drinking water projects through low-cost loans, grants, and loan/grant combinations. Examples of eligible projects include lead service line replacements, emerging contaminants/PFAS remediation, and green infrastructure. PENNVEST has various funding programs, including the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, Advance Funding, Small Projects, Non-Point Source, Pro-Fi, and more. Note: Their The Advance Funding Program provides low-interest loans and grants to assist in the completion of design, engineering, permits, and environmental reviews to get a project to the point of being construction ready.

National Rural Water Loan Fund (RWLF) (Rolling) - Funding program specifically designed to meet the unique needs of small water and wastewater utilities. The RWLF provides low-cost loans for short-term repair costs, small capital projects, or pre-development costs associated with larger projects. Eligible projects include pre-project (planning) for infrastructure projects, system upgrades and maintenance, energy efficiency projects, and disaster recovery and emergency funding. Applicants may also contact any State Rural Water Association for assistance in preparing and submitting the required documents.
