Before Asian Heritage month comes to an end, let’s take a moment to recognize someone, LT. Mido Mary Wu has been an integral part of the NYSC Asian Jade Society’s success.
Mary was born in China and immigrated to the US at the age of 5. Graduating from St. John’s with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, she started working in court as an advocate for adolescents at the Osbourne Association and the Andrew Glover Youth Program. In 2006, Mary joined the NYS courts, first as a Junior Court Analyst, then becoming a Court Officer. After nearly two decades at Kings Supreme Criminal term, Mary was finally promoted to the rank of Lieutenant at Bronx Civil Court. Becoming the first Asian female to achieve the rank of Lieutenant in the NYS Court System. She is also a founding member of the New York State Courts Asian Jade Society. We honor her now because the NYSC Asian Jade would not be where we are or as successfully without her tireless efforts for the society. Thank you Mary.

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the untimely passing of Chief Joseph Baccellieri, Jr. Commanding Officer and Chief of Training of the New York State Court Officers Academy.

Chief Baccellieri dedicated over four decades of his life to the New York State Unified Court System, shaping the careers of thousands of court officers across this state. Under his command, the Academy evolved into one of the most rigorous and respected law enforcement training programs in New York; transforming recruits from every walk of life into disciplined, unified, and purpose driven officers.

His vision, his standards, and his unwavering commitment to excellence will live on in every court officer who walked through those Academy doors.

To his family, his colleagues, and the entire court family, we stand with you in grief.

Rest easy, Chief. The halls you built will carry your legacy forward.
