Join us for a Love Modesto service project at the Youth Navigation Center!

We’re looking for volunteers to help with a YNC Clean Up and make a direct impact for youth in our community. The Youth Navigation Center provides shelter, housing, and vital support services for young people ages 13–24 in Stanislaus County who are experiencing crisis, housing instability, or homelessness.
Volunteers will help refresh shared spaces by assisting with deep cleaning in areas like the kitchen, storage rooms, and common spaces—helping create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the youth who rely on these services every day. You’re also invited to bring non-perishable food items to support the YNC food closet.

We were excited to welcome Zac Clark, founder of The HomeMore Project to tour our Youth Navigation Center! During his visit, he had the opportunity to see Hutton House, Pathways, and our Low-Barrier Shelter and learn more about the work happening every day to support youth and young adults in our community.

Zac also interviewed several of our young adults, whose powerful stories will be featured in his upcoming book, The Places We Dream, a statewide project highlighting first-person stories of homelessness across California. We are honored to be part of this important work and look forward to the book’s release! Thank you, Zac, for helping amplify the voices of young people in Stanislaus County.

To learn more about Zac’s work and The HomeMore Project, visit their page and follow their journey as they travel across all 58 counties sharing stories that matter.

Spreading a little extra kindness this Valentine’s Day💕

Young adults at the YNC came together to give back in a meaningful way. Our Housing and Navigation Team organized a Valentine’s Day card-making activity to create 115 handmade cards 💌 for seniors living at a local care home.

Small acts of care can make a big difference. Thank you to our Housing and Navigation Team for leading this special opportunity to serve our community!

CHS kicked off the year by celebrating our incredible staff at our January All-Staff held at Dave & Buster’s!

The day was all about appreciation, connection, and fun. Staff enjoyed a delicious spread of chicken sliders, fries, flatbread pizza, salad, and a variety of desserts. The celebration also included Bingo and a Vision and Goal Board station. Throughout the venue, staff had fun playing games like Dance Dance Revolution, Pac-Man, bowling, and axe throwing. We were also excited to welcome Modesto Children's Museum, who led a Coaster Creators Outreach Workshop. It was a great evening spent having fun, connecting with one another, and celebrating together.

Thank you to our CHS staff, your dedication, compassion, and hard work make a real difference in the lives of the youth and families we serve every day!

Christmas Eve magic at the YNC🎄✨ Santa and Mrs. Claus stopped by to share smiles, a little holiday joy and Christmas pajamas with our amazing young adults at the Low Barrier Youth Shelter. Proof that hope shows up in many ways.

This Christmas Eve we would like to thank the community who continues to show up for the YNC, and our amazing staff, who work every day and night to support youth in Stanislaus County. We wish you joy this holiday season.

Jo Castillo
I have been with Hutton House going on 4 years.
When we have a full house and the clients feel safe. They’re able to talk about their day or problems. When they have dreams they can actually see—not just think it’s too hard or too high of a goal. The small things matter: laughter, learning a new skill like cooking, mending, or budgeting. This place gives me joy.

Geral Lowe

Why Hutton House?
My journey with The Center began over 15 years ago, leading me through various roles in educational support and ultimately bringing me back to Hutton House. I returned because I truly believe that ages 13–17 are a critical period—one where support, guidance, and mentorship can make a life-changing impact for both youth and their families. Hutton House allows me to show up with purpose, compassion, and commitment during one of the most important stages of a young person’s development.

How long have you been with Hutton House?
Almost 2 years.

What does a Successful day look like at Hutton House?

A successful day at Hutton House is when youth take ownership of their growth—whether through academic effort, accountability, or supporting peers—and when family meetings create space for every voice to be heard. When families align on a plan and young people feel seen as part of the solution, that’s when we know the day has made a real impact.

Jill Baker

Why Hutton House?
• Hutton House gave me comfort and safety as a youth so many times and it has been my pleasure to offer that in return to any and all youth that walk through those doors 🙂
• I have been with Hutton House 8 years on and off. I stepped into my leadership role in the summer of 2025.
• A successful day at Hutton House is planting a seed, no matter how small, for youth and their families to find connection. It's working with an amazing team.
