A fire in a food truck was the reported cause of smoke filling the stadium at an NC State–Wake Forest college football game last night. Fortunately, nobody appears to have been injured in the incident, but it serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety in food trucks.

Davie County Fire Marshal Office/Emergency Management

07/09/2025

Our office would like to formally acknowledge and commend the outstanding efforts of Davie County Fire Departments during the recent commercial structure fire that occurred in the Farmington Community, on July 5th. From all accounts, the response was both swift and professional, exemplifying the high standards and dedication that these departments consistently bring to the community.

Imagine the emotional weight of such an event, driving past your own crew involved in a wreck, knowing full well that others are still depending on you to arrive at the scene and carry out the mission putting their house fire out. It’s a situation that strikes at the heart of what it means to serve in this profession: balancing personal concern with duty, safety with urgency, and emotion with focus.

Despite the challenging conditions and extent of the fire damage, these crews demonstrated remarkable coordination, courage, and control. Their ability to quickly secure the scene, establish a safe working environment, and aggressively attack the fire while maintaining safety protocols was unwavering. The incident posed several operational difficulties, but the department’s composure and adaptability clearly reflect a strong commitment to training and preparedness.

In addition to the tactical ex*****on, I want to highlight the professionalism and compassion shown toward the affected residents. In times of crisis, it's not just the technical response that matters, but also the human element, and these departments delivered on both fronts.

Their performance during this incident reinforces the community’s trust and serves as a strong example of public service at its best.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the responders, their agencies and the family members effected by this incident.
