Due to today’s weather, all Mobile County Commission offices and parks will close at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Mobile County parks will be open on the Juneteenth holiday, as will the Historic Avenue Cultural Center.

All Mobile County Commission offices will return to normal operations after the Juneteenth holiday. The Mobile County Animal Shelter will be open Saturday, June 20, for regular business hours.

Summer Burn Ban Reminder! From May to October, burning yard waste and debris is banned in Mobile County to protect air quality and reduce harmful ozone and fine particles, as outlined by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM). This seasonal burn ban is not the same as drought-related burn bans — it’s about keeping our air clean and our community healthy.

🚫 What’s banned?
Burning wood, brush, yard debris.
Burning construction or land-clearing waste.

✅ Better alternatives:
Compost yard waste.
Use leaves and clippings as mulch to enrich your garden and save water.

It's National Waste and Recycling Workers Week, a time to recognize the essential crews who keep our community clean. The Mobile County Commission extends its gratitude to the hardworking team at the Mobile County Recycling Center, the backbone of the Commission's recycling initiatives.

The Commission also commends its Environmental Enforcement team. Through eight Operation Clean Sweep events, this team diligently collects tons of tires, metal, and electronics for recycling, along with rubbish for proper disposal, significantly contributing to a cleaner county.

The dedication and efforts of these vital crews are instrumental in making Mobile County a better place for all residents.

RESCHEDULED! Due to ongoing rain and muddy conditions, the cleanup event originally scheduled for Saturday, May 9 has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 16. Operation Clean Sweep is the perfect time for Mobile County residents to clean out and prepare to dispose of unwanted household appliances, computers, printers, household items, bagged leaves, yard debris and more for free.
