Getting to work in a busy company with a ton of tradition is a blessing.

Never forget how lucky you are to work in a good company.

As an officer in our company there are many things that you are blessed with that are easy to take for granted.

✔️Busy
✔️Tradition
✔️Company Reputation
✔️Company Pride

and most important:
✔️You get the opportunity to work with some of the best in the city!

To work in Engine 3 means that you get to work in one of the companies that has provided protection to the city since the days of the volunteer fire service in Mobile.

You also get to work in the oldest operational firehouse in the city.

The list of names that have come through the company is long and legendary.

Never take for granted the gift that you have been given to work in a good company.

If you don’t feel that your company is the best place to be in your city, do something to fix it!

Don’t forget to always honor those that came before you and built the company into what you were gifted and keep their names alive in the firehouse long after their time!

SEPTEMBER FFOM:
Michael Smith Named
September Firefighter of the Month

The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department (MFRD) proudly announces Fire Service Captain Michael J. Smith as the September 2021 Firefighter of the Month. Captain Smith began his career with MFRD in June of 1990 as a Firefighter, promoting to Driver in February of 1994 and to Captain in March of 2007.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Captain Smith is currently assigned to Engine 3 at Central Fire Station, located in downtown Mobile. As a second-generation firefighter for the City of Mobile, Captain Smith possesses an extraordinary amount of passion for the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department and the fire service, in general. Captain Smith is certified as a Hazardous Materials and Rescue Technician.

His commitment to excellence and willingness to mentor firefighters has earned him the respect of his peers. His positive influence has a direct impact on the success of the MFRD. He is a vocal leader who demands his crew meet the high standards of the profession.

Captain Smith exemplifies what we all strive to achieve as professional firefighters and Company Officers. Words and awards cannot adequately represent the appreciation of the City of Mobile or the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department.

Congratulations to Captain Michael “Smitty” Smith from all the crews at Central Fire Station!
