Come meet our current auxiliary members, see our horses up close, and participate in a hands-on Sensory Training session!
Experience real desensitization training and obstacles to build confidence in challenging environments. Our volunteers support the Mobile Police Department Mounted Unit with community patrols, special events, crowd management, and more — all from horseback.
This is your chance to serve your community while doing what you love — riding!

For Non-Members: $25
Please bring a photo ID

Requirements to Join:
• Must own or have access to a suitable horse
• Live within 90 miles of Mobile, AL
• Must be 19 years of age or older and out of high school
• United States citizen

No prior law enforcement experience needed — we provide the training!

✨ Meet One of Our Auxiliary Horses! ✨

We’re excited to start introducing the incredible horses who serve as part of our Auxiliary program. These horses do more than just look beautiful — they help represent our community, bring people together, and share the spirit of horsemanship with everyone they meet.

Today we’d like you to meet Finn🐴

Finn is an 8 year old Classic Champagne Missouri Foxtrotter who is known for being curious, goofy and a thief of treats and wallets. Whether in the arena or meeting new friends, he always brings a calm and welcoming presence.

A fun fact about Finn: His registered name is Shakespeare's Grand Finale and we call him.
Finn for short. In his time off from patrol and trail riding, he is a co-therapist with his owner in Equine Assisted Therapy.

We’re proud to have Finn as part of our Auxiliary family and look forward to sharing more about the horses who help make this program so special.

Today we’d like you to meet Rain 🐴

Rain is a 9 year old black and white foxtrotter who is known for her sweet disposition. She is solid as a rock under pressure but melts like ice cream on a hot day when a small child comes for pets. She has the rare combination of beauty and brains.

A unique fact about Rain, is that she has one blue eye and one brown eye. She is one of the smallest horses on the unit and proves that size doesn't matter. 😉

Bud is a 15 year old chestnut Quarter Horse who is known for his energetic and playful personality. He has a big heart and faces all challenges head on. Whether in the arena or meeting new friends, he always brings a calm and welcoming presence.

A fun fact about Bud: He has yet to find a food he doesn’t love and is affectionately known as Ham at home.

We’re proud to have Bud as part of our Auxiliary family and look forward to sharing more about the horses who help make this program so special.

Today we’d like you to meet Flicka🐴

Flicka is a 16 year old Mustang who is known for her kind heart, fearless personality and dependability. Whether in the mountains or policing the streets of downtown Mobile, she always brings a calm and welcoming presence.

A fun fact about Flicka: She has been across the Colorado River at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

We’re proud to have Flicka as part of our Auxiliary family and look forward to sharing more about the horses who help make this unit so special.
