Every week at the Kingdom Training Center, we meet young adults who walk in carrying more than just backpacks. Some carry the weight of hard childhoods, the fear of not knowing their next step, the pressure of having to grow up too fast, and the belief that “life already chose their future. A few months ago, a young man named Marcus (name changed for confidentiality) walked into our warehouse quietly, hands in his pockets, eyes barely looking up. He said, “I’m only here because somebody told me y’all help people get jobs.” What he didn’t say, but what we could feel, was that he had already counted himself out. But what we have learned is that when mentorship meets opportunities, something shifts.
At KTC, we don’t just teach trades. We teach identity. We teach confidence. We teach young adults how to build the life they thought they could never have. Marcus learned how to measure, cut, and repurpose furniture, but he also learned how to rebuild himself. Mentors reminded him that mistakes don’t define you. Life skills classes taught him how to communicate, show up on time, handle conflict, and manage money. Our skills training showed him he can master any trade he set his mind to. Our job placement assistance connected him to his very first paid opportunity. And when he put on his safety gear for the first time he said, “Man, I feel official. I feel like somebody.” This is what happens when you mix workforce development, mentorship, life skills and job training into one program. This is what KTC is about, not just building workers, but rebuilding people.
We are committed to removing the barriers that, to often, hold our youth and young adults back. We teach our students the importance and value of teamwork. In the words of an old African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”. Being a new 501(c)(3) organization (est 2023) we knew we would face funding challenges, however; we couldn’t allow that to be a deciding factor for us. We took on the challenge, and with the help of God and the assistance of volunteers and local donors, we were able to successfully launch and compete our first class. Continuing in the spirit of unity, we want to offer others an opportunity to be apart of this movement. We don’t want to go fast we want to go far. This is where you come in.
Every individual who enters this program needs real quality tools, not just for class, but for the job opportunities waiting on the other side. Tools that gives them confidence, purpose and a future they can hold in their hands. Right now, we need 20 toolbags, each filled with high quality tools to prepare our students for real world work. Each bag costs about $150, and every donation, big or small, pushes someone like Marcus one step closer to a new beginning. If KTC has ever inspired you, If you believe in second chances, If you want to better the future of our community… Help us put the right tools in their hands.

Because sometimes all a person needs is someone to believe in them, and suppling the graduates with a toolbag is one of our ways of saying, “we believe is you”.
