Happy Hispanic Heritage Month 💛

This month, we celebrate the cultures, traditions, stories, and communities that make up the rich diversity of Hispanic and Latine communities.

Strong communities are built on connection, respect, and looking out for one another. That includes creating relationships and families where everyone feels safe, valued, and free to make their own choices.

Domestic violence and sexual assault can affect anyone, and culture can play an important role in how people experience, understand, and seek support around violence. Seekhaven is committed to better supporting Hispanic and Latine communities

This month, we celebrate the strength of Hispanic and Latine communities—and continue working toward a future where every person can live, love, and thrive free from violence.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month is coming up this October, and we’re excited to have our first event on the calendar! 💜 Join us for a fun night of painting as we use creativity to show up for victims and survivors of domestic violence. We’ll wrap up the evening with a candlelight vigil to honor those who have experienced violence and remember those whose lives have been impacted by it.

Come create, connect, and stand with survivors. 💜

HARVEST HOEDOWN IS TONIGHT!

We can’t wait to see you at Spanish Valley Vineyard & Winery for an evening of live music, food, drinks, dancing, and community - all in support of Seekhaven!

TONIGHT’S SCHEDULE
Doors open: 5 PM
The Butch Cassidies: 5:45 PM
Painted Mandolin featuring Joe Craven: 7 PM

A few things to know before you come:

- This is a 21+ event - please bring a valid ID to be scanned at the entrance.
- We’ll be outside on the lawn, so dress for the weather and bring a lawn chair or blanket if you’d like!
- Bring cash and/or card for dinner and beverages.
- Smoked Bowls dinners and free gelato are limited, so come early if you want to snag some!
- Bring a reusable water bottle - we’ll have water available for refills.
- No outside beverages, with the exception of water.
Carpooling is encouraged! Parallel parking is available along Stocks Drive.
Please plan ahead for a safe ride home and do not drink and drive.

This Sunday, we’re taking over Moab Valley Vineyards & Winery for the first-ever Harvest Hoedown Benefit Concert, and we have a pretty incredible night of music lined up.

Painted Mandolin featuring Joe Craven is coming in from the Bay Area to headline the Main Stage. Joe is an acclaimed multi-instrumentalist who has played and recorded with Jerry Garcia, and if you haven’t seen Painted Mandolin live, you’re in for a seriously fun show.

Kicking things off at 5:45 are Moab favorites The Butch Cassidies on the Bar Stage.

Come for the music, stay for Smoked Bowls, local wine, Etta Place cider, beer, cocktails, and dancing - all while supporting Seekhaven’s work with victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

So what even is empowerment?

Empowerment is when a person develops the authority or power to do something, or the process of becoming stronger and more confident in controlling one’s life.
This is a transformative process for many survivors and individuals that have been controlled or experienced abuse.

Therapy, self-care and other activities can help someone feel more empowered, and Seekhaven aims to make these opportunities more accessible for local survivors. Ever wondered what an advocate actually does? 🌻

An advocate is a person who has been trained to support survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. They provide survivors with information, referrals to resources, emotional support and more. They may accompany survivors to court or medical appointments, obtain information from other organizations, answer helpline calls, facilitate a support group or provide crisis counseling.

Ultimately, Seekhaven advocates are here to support YOU. You don’t have to wait for a crisis or have all the answers before reaching out. If you’re wondering whether advocacy could help, that’s reason enough to connect with us. Our services are here for you, are FREE, and strictly confidential.
