We look forward to seeing everyone today! We do understand that some may be worried about gathering for events during these uncertain times. We completely understand. We encourage everyone that plans on coming to bring a mask, lawn chairs, and to practice social distancing. We have been in close contact with county officials over the last several weeks and feel confident that if everyone does their part, we will have a successful event. Per the county mask mandate, mask are not required outdoors unless the ability to adequately social distance is compromised. Therefore we highly recommend mask be brought for standing in lines for vendors or in case there is areas that become crowded. We will have hand sanitizer stations and we have expanded the open areas where people can watch the music and fireworks. Let's all have a good time.

Our event is still on for Saturday!!! We do ask everyone to follow current social distancing guidelines and mask rules. We will provide hand sanitizer stations. Please bring lawn chairs and be ready for music, food, fun, and fireworks!!

We have been lucky enough to participate in a few birthday stops over the last few days! If you live within our fire district and have an event or birthday that you would like us to drive by for, please let us know! If you live outside of our district or within the City Limits of Portland, we will make sure your request is passed on to the appropriate departments! Thanks!!

Some may have noticed that our Blessings Box at our Station 3 in Mitchellville was missing. The last round of storms the other day had damaged it. We are happy to report that it has been FIXED!!! We thank everyone who has taken the time to place things in it for those in need!

The Highland VFD will not be conducting any events at the Park in the City limits of Mitchellville at least until the end of April. We were planning an Easter Egg Hunt, but at this time that event has been put on hold. We do have an open house/cookout on Memorial Day weekend, and of course our 4th of July Celebration is being planned for July. Be safe everyone!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
The country and the world for that matter are certainly dealing with uncharted waters. Our daily routines have changed and will be changing even more over the next few weeks as we all find out how this Corona-virus will spread. Having said that, we here at the Highland Volunteer Fire Department will do everything in our power to be here for you and the community we serve should we be needed. We will be cutting back on our public interactions. We will for the time being not offer station tours, bring fire trucks to events and birthday parties, or conduct any functions at our local schools or at the Park in Mitchellville. We are working closely with Sumner County EMS on response protocols and procedures as more information is known. Our 100% volunteer staff will be there to assist anyone in our community should the need arise.
