With America’s 250th coming up, I got the chance to spend some time in Boston.

Seeing the history there in person—from the Freedom Trail to the Paul Revere House—is a good reminder that this country was built on real convictions. Not abstract ideas—freedom, self-governance, and limited government actually meant something, and people were willing to act on it.

Glad I was there with a group of colleagues who still believe in those principles and are doing the work to carry them forward.

That part hasn’t changed—and it shouldn’t.

Last week, I had the privilege of some great conversations about the future of the country with the people shaping it.

Had a fascinating conversation with Pete Ricketts — former CEO of TD Ameritrade and one of the owners of the Chicago Cubs — about how innovation at the state and federal level can actually drive results.

Also had a great conversation with John Thune on what it takes to make sure America is still strong 250 years from now.

And a strong discussion with John Boozman about advancing agriculture, energy, and economic opportunity — the backbone of states like Arkansas.

Grateful for the time and perspective. The stakes are high, and the work matters.

Great meeting with Montana’s federal delegation this week.

We talked how to fully unleash the American Dream through Montana’s natural resources with the SPEED act, the benefits of the working family tax cuts and the work still ahead to get it done — Tim Sheehy, Steve Daines, Troy Downing, and Ryan Zinke.

It’s a bummer to see this group change next year but I’m confident Montana voters will rebuild with the right leaders and keep moving forward.

Last week, my friend Senator Steve Daines announced that he’ll be retiring from the U.S. Senate after 13 years of serving the people of Montana.

Ever since my time as the lone conservative on the Missoula City Council, Steve Daines has always, listened, offered advice, and helped when he could.

Steve spent his term fighting for Montana—pushing for lower taxes, unleashing American energy and for more jobs, and less government.

Congratulations on 13 years of service to Montana, Senator.

I want to recognize the retirement of Congressman Ryan Zinke after four decades of service to Montana and our country.

From 23 years as a Navy SEAL — earning a Bronze Star — to serving in the Montana Senate, as Secretary of the Interior under President Trump, and representing Montana in Congress, Ryan has consistently answered the call to serve.

I first met Ryan in 2017, before my own journey into politics began. It’s been an honor to get to know and learn from him over the years and to watch his continued commitment to our state.

Grateful for your service, Ryan. Wishing you and Lola the very best in this next chapter.

That’s exactly what the SPEED Act offers. It’s a bipartisan permitting reform bill that would stop responsible mining, logging, energy, and infrastructure projects from being buried in endless federal red tape. If Congress is serious about working families and rural America, this is the moment to prove it.

The American Dream isn’t gone.
It’s just waiting on permission.

The first — and almost certainly the last — time I’ll ever wear a Super Bowl ring.

One of the favorite parts of my job is hearing the American Dream stories of everyday Americans. Yesterday I was blessed to hear Congressman and Super Bowl champion Burgess Owens share his journey — built on faith, family, civil service, and hard work.

His story is a powerful reminder that we must fight to preserve the American Dream for the next generation.

RIP to an incredible American, Charlie Kirk. Charlie was a good man — passionate, humble, kind, and principled to his core always supportive of Montana, my wife, Taylor, and myself.

When Taylor, started the Turning Point USA chapter in Missoula in 2018 and was met with harassment, Charlie stepped in. He took her under his wing, made sure the White House knew, and as a result she was invited by President Trump to a ceremony there. The kindness and support he showed her then continued throughout the years.

Charlie was murdered because of his beliefs, nothing else. Because his voice carried weight. Because his message was cutting through the noise and reaching people. That’s why he was targeted.

What his enemies tried to ignore is that, before anything else, Charlie was a husband and father. His wife has lost her partner. His kids have lost their dad. They’ll never see him again, and that is a tragedy beyond words.

I’m praying for Charlie and his family, and I hope you do the same. His fight, his faith, and his example will not be forgotten.f

Want to give a quick shout-out to someone I’m honored to call a good friend — Congressman Troy Downing representing Montana’s 2nd District.

Troy and I first met back in 2017 when we were both stepping into politics. His story is incredible: he founded a tech company that later merged with Yahoo, and could’ve retired at 30. Instead, after 9/11, he joined the military at age 35 — the cut-off year — because he wanted to serve his country. He served on a helicopter crew in the Middle East, flying missions to rescue injured soldiers and bring them home.

He’s kept that same drive ever since: serving as our State Auditor from 2020–2024 and now in Congress. This weekend, it was an honor to join him at his event in Big Sky with NRCC Chairman Richard Hudson, Policy Chairman Congressman Kevin Hern, Congressman Mike Haridopolos, and others — complete with a rodeo at Lone Mountain Ranche They all said the same thing: even though Troy’s only been in DC for seven months, it feels like he’s been there for years because of the energy and leadership he brings.

On top of that, Troy was instrumental in getting the “one big, beautiful bill” over the finish line — one of the most historically impactful pieces of legislation in the last decade.

Taylor and I are proud to call him and his incredible wife Heather, friends. I know for a lot of my friends on the west side, you haven’t heard of Troy but Troy makes every vote with all of Montana in mind. MT-02 is well served.

Happy Tax Day! 😑

I wanted to take this opportunity on tax day to remind folks that if the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expire at the end of the year, Montanans will be facing an average of a 23% tax hike.

I was honored to speak alongside Governor Greg Gianforte a couple of weeks ago on this very fact. Montana families are struggling with the inflation of the last four years and cannot afford a tax hike! Tell Congress to make the tax cuts and jobs act permanent!
