VOTE!! The beauty of living in Montana is that we have same day voter registration. So until 8:00 this evening, even if you aren't registered, it is not too late to get in line to vote! It is our precious right that we get to choose our leaders, and in Montana that vote is far from meaningless. Your candidate, or issue, may well prevail or fail by only thousands if not just hundreds of votes. So take the time, make a plan, and be in line by 8:00!

ASUM is excited to be hosting V for Voting again this year in collaboration with MontPIRG! Please join us on October 15th to hear from and get to know the candidates you will be voting for this year. There will be Pizza, there will be prizes, bring your friends and celebrate democracy!

"Today the Judiciary Committee killed my bill to provide limited immunity for people that reach out for medical help when they or a friend is overdosing on alcohol or drugs. This bill would have saved lives and helped people do the right thing in a tough situation. I'm very disappointed to see this fail." - Rep. Bryce Bennett. This was a bill that we had our ASUM lobbyist working on. Disheartening but efforts to support the student interest will continue.

The Student Political Action Committee has Student-At-Large (SAL) openings! I would highly encourage anyone who is looking to get more involved with Montana Politics, the ASUM Senate, or the University to apply to become an SAL for this committee. We meet on a biweekly basis to plan events and discuss ways to keep students involved and informed in all levels of governance. If you're interested in this excellent opportunity to get involved, please fill out this super quick interest form/application. You can also get in touch with the front desk of ASUM (1st floor of the UC) personally, to learn more about the other ASUM committees that might be needing SALs!

Thanks to the hard work of; Asa Hohman, Zach Brown, Eamon Ornseth, Aaron Curtis, Bryn Hagfors and several others, HB 5 which will build the Missoula college, HB 13 the pay raise for public employees and HB 2 the tuition cap have all passed the house and are on their way to the governors desk.
