As we wrap up the first week of Su***de Prevention Month, we’re celebrating the little things. 💛

We asked our staff: What’s a little thing that can almost always make your day better?

A good song. Fresh air and sunshine. A favorite drink. Time with a pet. Hearing from someone you love.

Sometimes the things that brighten our days are pretty ordinary. But ordinary doesn’t mean unimportant.

So now we’re asking you: What’s one of yours?

This Su***de Prevention Month, we’re celebrating Reasons to Stay, big, small and everything in between. If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988.

Su***de is preventable. Secure gun storage can save lives.

Gun Storage Check Week, Sept. 1–7, is an opportunity to take a few minutes to review how fi****ms are stored in your home.

During a suicidal crisis, putting time and distance between a person and access to a fi***rm can save lives. Cable locks, lock boxes and full-size safes are all options for securing fi****ms when they’re not in use.

This Su***de Prevention Month, check your storage and make sure it’s secure.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to connect with the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Veterans can call 988 and press 1 for the Veterans Crisis Line.

Su***de prevention is about more than recognizing warning signs. It’s also about creating connection, making space for difficult conversations and reminding each other that there are reasons to stay, big, small and everything in between.

This week’s Mental Health Moment explores how we can find hope, reach out for support and show up for someone who may be struggling.

When it comes to talking about fentanyl, a simple “just say no” is no longer enough. Most young people aren’t looking for fentanyl, but can encounter it unknowingly in fake pills. Young people need to know:

You Never Know where a pill your friend gave you actually came from.
You Never Know if a pill that *looks* real is actually safe.
You Never Know if a fake pill contains a deadly dose of fentanyl.
You Never Know if the first time you take a pill that isn’t yours will be the last.

It’s not worth the risk. Because with fentanyl, .

: The only pill you can trust is one that is prescribed to you by a medical professional, filled at a licensed pharmacy, and taken as directed. If you or someone you know is struggling, we’re here to help, 24/7/365 — just call 988.

September is Su***de Prevention Month.

This month, we’re celebrating Reasons to Stay: the big ones, the small ones and everything in between.

A person you love. Your pet waiting at home. A song you haven’t heard yet. Your morning coffee. A future you can’t quite picture yet. Tomorrow’s sunset. Something as simple as wanting to know what happens next.

There is no reason too small or ordinary to matter. Your reason is reason enough.

Follow along throughout September as we share everyday reasons to stay, practical mental health resources and ways we can show up for one another.

💬 What’s one thing you’re looking forward to this month?

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day. 💜

For 25 years, this day has brought people around the world together to remember those lost to overdose, acknowledge the grief of the people who loved them, and take action to prevent future deaths.

This year’s theme (25 years on. Still needed.) reminds us that our work isn’t finished.

Overdose is preventable. Education, access to care and support, and life-saving interventions can reduce harm and save lives. So can something less tangible but just as important: compassion.

Today, we remember. We act. And we continue — together.

Grief doesn’t always get smaller. Sometimes, life grows bigger around it.

On Grief Awareness Day, we’re making space for all the ways grief can show up. There’s no deadline for “moving on,” and healing doesn’t require forgetting or leaving behind the person, relationship or part of life you’re grieving.

Over time, new people, experiences, routines and moments of joy can begin to grow around the grief we carry. The grief may still be there — but so is everything else life continues to hold.

However your grief looks and feels, there’s no single right way or timeline to experience it.

Back-to-school routines are still pretty new, and kids and caregivers may be feeling some big feelings.

When emotions start to feel overwhelming, try these three steps:

👀 I Notice: What’s happening in my body?
💭 I Feel: What emotion am I feeling? What might be contributing to it?
💪 I Can: What might help me right now?

The best time to learn a coping strategy isn’t necessarily in the middle of a meltdown. Practice these steps together during calmer moments so they’re familiar when big feelings show up.

And grown-ups: try modeling them yourself! Saying, “I’m feeling frustrated, so I’m going to take a few deep breaths” shows kids that everyone has big feelings—and there are healthy ways to move through them.
