☀️🥵🌡️With excessive heat continuing this week, the City is encouraging residents to take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Mission Viejo Library & Cultural Services at 100 Civic Center; Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way; and Marguerite Tennis Pavilion at 27474 Casta Del Sol all serve as comfortable cooling centers for folks to beat the heat.

Families with neurodivergent children are invited to a free ABLE Pool Party on Saturday, September 19 from 3 to 6 pm at the Montanoso Recreation and Fitness Center.

The City’s ABLE (Activities 4 Better Living Experience) initiative is designed to enhance recreational opportunities for individuals with physical and/or developmental disabilities.

This inclusive event is designed to create a safe and enjoyable environment where families can have fun, make memories, and connect with others in a supportive community.

Sierra Pool is getting an upgrade.

The City is investing in Sierra Recreation Center with a pool renovation project beginning Tuesday, September 8. These improvements will help refresh and enhance Sierra Pool for our community to enjoy for years to come.

The project will include new pool plaster, replacement of aging pool equipment and additional improvements and enhancements.

The pool and deck will be closed during the renovation, which is expected to take about 10–12 weeks, with a tentative reopening by Thanksgiving.

While the work is underway, recreation members can continue enjoying Sierra's courts and fitness center as well as Montanoso Recreation Center pool and fitness center.

Through the City’s partnership with Nadadores, select Aqua Aerobics classes and select lap swim hours will also be offered at the Marguerite Aquatics Complex, providing additional opportunities for members to stay active in the water while Sierra Pool is being renovated.

We appreciate your patience as we make this important investment in Sierra Pool and the future of our recreation facilities.

The City of Mission Viejo is teaming up with the Mission For Heroes Foundation to bring the community together for a night of remembrance, gratitude, and unity at the Mission For Heroes Game on Friday, September 11 at Mission Viejo High School.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11, the event honors those we lost and recognizes the courage and sacrifice of military members, first responders, veterans, Gold Star Families, and community heroes who continue to serve and protect.

The evening begins with a concert from 5 to 7 pm ($10) in the Mission Viejo High School parking lot featuring Redneck Rodeo along with local food vendors and opportunities to meet the heroes being honored. A pregame ceremony will follow, recognizing the 2026 Konrad Reuland Community Hero Award nominees.

The Mission Viejo Diablos will then face Lincoln High School of San Diego, continuing the tradition of pairing each player with a local hero whose story inspires them. Throughout the night, the community will come together to remember 9/11, honor those who serve, and reaffirm our commitment to never forget.
