2,977 flags. 2,977 lives remembered. 🇺🇸 MVHS students and staff placed one flag for each victim of September 11, 2001, as part of the school’s Mission for Heroes tradition, culminating in a special football game honoring veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and other community heroes.

Kinda chic to make the list! 😎📈🌟 All four comprehensive high schools earned a spot among the U.S. News & World Report 2026 Best High Schools, ranking in the top 9.5% in the nation and 14% in California. El Toro, Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, and Trabuco Hills high schools are preparing students for what’s next.

The 2026–27 school year is officially underway in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District. On August 20, more than 22,000 students returned to SVUSD’s 33 campuses, bringing renewed energy to classrooms, hallways, and school communities across the district. From preschool and kindergarten through high school and adult education, the first day marked the beginning of another year filled with opportunities.

That same sense of possibility is at the heart of SV Elevates, the district’s renewed mission for the year ahead. Superintendent Dr. Crystal Turner shared:

“This year, we begin with a renewed mission: SV Elevates by empowering each and every student to achieve academic excellence and well-being through engaging and rigorous learning experiences that build on all students’ strengths. This mission reflects both who we are and our commitment to helping every student reach their fullest potential.”
