James Burnett has been an activist, community leader, and public servant for over a decade. A Fort Bend native, James was raised in the Mission Bend neighborhood and graduated from George Bush High School, where he played varsity football, ran track, and was President of the Debate team. With a passion for public service and civic engagement instilled at a young age, James started volunteering for

Democratic campaigns as a teenager. He worked his way to become a pillar of the Democratic institution in Fort Bend and Harris County. He went on to graduate from Houston Baptist University with a degree in Political Science, where he founded the university’s first Democratic club–College Democrats at HBU, and served as a Senator in the Student Government Association, as well as President of the Pre-Law Society.

Texas became a "constitutional" carry state five years ago so why would any persons who might have citizenship or immigration status problems even bother to apply for an LTC when they don't need one to purchase or lawfully carry a firearm in Texas?

Texas DPS is proposing new rules that would require handgun license applicants to verify their citizenship or immigration status through a federal database before being approved. MORE BELOW ⬇️

It has been a whirlwind two weeks but Karen Diaz and I are proud to announce the birth of our first son James Anthony Burnett on March 23, 2026! In true Burnett fashion little man let us know that he is the star and came early because he didn't want to share a birthday month with his parents, lol.

We all agree KP needed to go, but a random District Court Judge from another county arbitrarily taking the appointment power away from a duly elected Commissioner's Court to fill one of it's vacancies to fill it himself just doesn't sit right with me. This sets a dangerous judicial precedent.

Fort Bend County Judge KP George was suspended from office Friday following his felony money laundering conviction, a rare move that removes the county’s top elected official from power and puts county government under temporary leadership.

During a brief hearing in Fort Bend County’s 400th District Court, visiting Judge Jeff Jones of Galveston ordered George suspended and appointed Daniel Wong, the Republican nominee for county judge, as temporary replacement while the civil removal case remains pending. bit.ly/3Ob27Dq

THE YEAR IN REVIEW:
2025 was definitely a banner year! I’m becoming a father....everything else seems rather trivial compared to that. New job, new friends, multiple weddings & parties, and I moved out of the first place I ever got on my own. But, I’m moving into the place where Karen and I are starting our family. I’m excited for 2026 and everything it’s bringing. I’ll see y’all next year! Especially you, son.

Looking at some of these candidate filings in Fort Bend & Harris County and all I have to say is switching parties to run for the same seat that you lost in the Democratic primary or even the general last cycle is just proof that the voters got it right the first time.

Some, I'm not surprised by. Others, I am deeply disappointed in. To hell with integrity & values when your chasing titles & power. Don't be mad when I laugh in your face when you lose again.
