As our celebration of the Mishawaka High School Class of 2026 continues, these photos capture one of the most memorable moments in a student's life—the walk across the stage to receive a diploma.

Each graduate carried with them years of learning, perseverance, friendships, accomplishments, and memories that helped shape their journey. On June 4, those efforts were recognized as they officially became Mishawaka High School alumni.

While commencement marks the end of one chapter, it is also the beginning of countless new opportunities. We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2026 and look forward to seeing the impact they will make in their communities, careers, and beyond.

Congratulations, Cavemen! Your future is bright, and your Mishawaka family will always be cheering you on.

A beautiful evening at Steel Stadium Thursday night (June 4, 2026) provided the perfect setting to celebrate the Mishawaka High School Class of 2026 during the school's 149th Commencement Ceremony.

As we begin highlighting this special night, these photos capture many of the memorable moments that made commencement so meaningful—from the processional and inspiring performances by the MHS Band and Choir to the valedictorian addresses and the recognition of students who have chosen to serve our country through military service.

We also celebrate the many accomplishments of our graduates and the encouraging message shared by MHS alumna Anna Rohrer Heiny.

Most importantly, these moments reflect the hard work, dedication, and achievements of the Class of 2026. Congratulations, graduates! Your Mishawaka family is proud of you and excited for all that lies ahead.

On Tuesday, our School Board had the opportunity to tour the new Hums Elementary School construction site. Our Construction Manager, F.A. Wilhelm, provided an excellent walkthrough of the progress being made — from classrooms that are already beginning to take shape, the hallways where students will have lockers, and even the location of the new gymnasium.

The amount of progress already completed is incredible, and it’s becoming easier to truly envision what this beautiful new school will look like when finished. We are excited to welcome students into their new building in August 2027!

We are incredibly proud to present our May Game Changer Award to Susan Carter, an Essential Skills teacher for the Exceptional Learners Department at Liberty Elementary School. She is being recognized not only for her exceptional dedication to student growth and achievement, but also for her deep commitment to the broader school community and her active role serving on teacher leadership teams.

The results of her unwavering commitment in the classroom are truly outstanding. An incredible 100% of the students on her caseload passed the I AM Mathematics assessment, doubling the state pass rate of 50% and exceeding the district pass rate of 70%. Furthermore, 89% of her students passed the I AM English Language Arts assessment, significantly outperforming the state's 40% pass rate.

Susan Carter’s passion for her students, her ability to drive remarkable academic growth, and her dedication to elevating her colleagues through leadership make her a truly deserving recipient of this award.

Today, we pause to remember the heroes who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy each day. Their sacrifice, courage, and selflessness will forever live on in the hearts of our nation.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, may we also take a moment to reflect on those who never made it home and honor the loved ones who carry their memory forward.

We are forever grateful to our fallen service members and to the families who sacrificed alongside them.
