Each year, the Christ Child Society of South Bend, one of 45 chapters across the country, purchases new clothing and books for under resourced children in our community and distributes them in the Fall. Christ Child warms the hearts, souls and bodies of these children and their families. One more child feels a little prouder in brand new shoes and a coat that wasn’t hand-me-down. CCS has brought h

ope to families for over 75 years, working to break the cycle of poverty, knowing the significance of a warm coat and seeing the smile that comes from sharing with those who have so little. Since 1947, the volunteer members of CCS have distributed clothing to thousands of children and infants thanks to the generosity of our members, friends and the community. There is no better investment in the future of our community than treasuring the children who will grow to lead, to work, to build, to educate… to make this community better and brighter.

A way to support your children during these summer months is to prevent "the summer slide". Because of the lack of engagement in reading and math, provided by their schools, children tend to lose months of academic progress during the summer.
You can prevent this by visiting your local library for educational resources, summer reading lists and free engaging programs.
Let your child read what they want to read, even if you think they are "too big" for that book,
Be a good role model and show children that learning is fun!
Read as much and as often as you can.

One more child feels a little prouder in brand new shoes and a coat that wasn’t hand-me-down. CCS has brought hope to families for nearly 70 years, working to break the cycle of poverty, knowing the significance of a warm coat and seeing the smile that comes from sharing with those who have so little. Since 1947, we have distributed clothing to nearly 200,000 children and infants thanks to the generosity of our members and friends like you. Can you think of a better investment in the future of our community than treasuring the children who will grow to lead, to work, to build, to educate… to make this community better and brighter?
