Since 1970 Art has been devoted to PHM. Known as the "Father" of the PHM Planetarium (which is now named after him!) there are few teachers who have impacted more students! As an independent voice responsive to the community, he seeks to continue his commitment to PHM as a candidate for School Board.

A number of people have asked for my thoughts on the PHM School Board candidates. I was a school board candidate two years ago and continue to be involved at PHM meetings.

I am happy to endorse Jim Garrett! As an incumbent, Jim has a proven history of representing his constituents with a strong independent voice. His passion for the district is evident in all he does from his 43-year career teaching and coaching within PHM to his service on the board.

An update on recent activity here at PHM...a number of dedicated individuals in our filed to run for PHM School Board this Fall 2024.

Unfortunately one of those individuals filed using an incorrect name on the ballot. I filed a formal complaint today, per Indiana guidelines, to hopefully get this resolved quickly. Other members in our community may have also filed a similar complaint.

School Board elections are important to help ensure our public schools are responsive to our community!

The number of people who come out to vote in primaries has historically been low. In a primary, "every vote counts" is more true than ever!!

Promoting transparency and fiscal responsibility!

As an example of how transparency & fiscal responsibility can work….. for 2023 PHM Public Schools planned to increase the property tax rate on our community but this was not communicated to the public. At a public hearing I asked that they not raise the rate. To meet this request, PHM cut the 2023 rate slightly instead. Last night at a new public hearing they affirmed this lower rate will be carried over to 2024 also!

Let's show appreciation today to all our veterans!

One of those veterans is Ben Dallas, a hardworking parent in Penn Harris Madison Schools. He was banned from all school property, even virtual contact, in retaliation after a federal investigation into a complaint he filed found PHM violated federal law.

Ben violated no laws nor threatened anyone yet PHM continues their open-ended ban keeping him from his kids' activities!
