Chairing the relaunch of the City of Miramar’s Sister Cities International initiative has definitely been a challenge, but surely a rewarding one. One way that we can demonstrate gratitude for the progress and diversity in our City is by paying it forward to inspire, support, and uplift the next community. With almost a year of strategizing, structuring, and advocating, we have laid the framework and pathway for an amazing 2024 achievements to come.

All of us remember a time when an emergency situation or a natural disaster changed our life. Yet, not enough of us have access to developing, expanding and stregthening our skills to respond and take action.

My FEMA experience has always involved handling emergencies on the public affairs end, but now I am proud to have taken on the opportunity to serve amongst the Community Emergency Response Team - and of course, there was no better place to take this training than right here with my Miramar family.

The Broward County Cultural Division includes the county's Public Art & Design program, as well as grant programs that provide over $4.5 million in annual support for Broward-based cultural organizations and artists, and engages the community in education and advocacy initiatives that support arts education at the local, state and federal levels.

Serving alongside local artists to help direct and prioritize the county’s investment in creatives is a task that comes with challenges, but continues to grow into a remarkable passion project for me with each year that I have been given the opportunity to serve.
