🚨🔔Wednesday Night Training🚨🔔

Wednesday nights training hit a little bit different this time. If you have been following over the last few weeks you know that every Wednesday night TTFD comes together for either maintenance, training, or meetings. Last week we had mentioned Bill our volunteer. Let us introduce Bill!!!

Bill Badoni is non-resident of Oscoda County. He is a military veteran that has continued his service by volunteering his time where it matters most. Bill has ties within Oscoda County which brings him to the area often. He is an outdoor enthusiast and most of all enjoys helping people.

Bill reached out to us a while back asking if we had a need for water rescue rope as he was cleaning out his supplies. As he put it “I need to downsize a bit”.

We said absolutely. Any supplies are always welcomed. So we met with Bill, went over what we had (which wasn’t much) and in true Bill fashion he says I’ll be touch.

Fast forward to Wednesday and here we are. As he says “I was going to make sure you were set up right”!!!

So Wednesday night training consisted of proper use, hands on training, and maintenance of all the equipment pictured below that was graciously DONATED by Bill to the Tri-Town Fire Department.

BILL WE CAN NOT SAY THANK YOU ENOUGH!!!!

The Wednesday night theme continues! Maintenance/Training/Meetings

Tonight we began our annual hose testing. This is an NFPA annual requirement. Every section of hose must be tested to a minimum of 300psi(depending on type of hose) to check for any defects or failures. This ensure our hose is operational when needed most. This process will take several nights to complete as we have too test roughly 6,000 feet in total. Maybe more!

Need to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to mio social Est. 2025 for the donation of cold drinks tonight!!! Couldn’t have asked for anything better on a warm, muggy, labor intensive night. THANK YOU!

Also a shout out goes to Bill! Bill is not a citizen of this county however he has been volunteering time to TTFD the past few weeks because that what he does. He didn’t hesitate to drag and roll hose tonight. More to come on Bill in the coming weeks!!!! THANK YOU BILL!!

Wednesday nights are for training and maintenance. Tonight we trained on drafting from a static water source. This can be a critical component to our operation as we have to almost always shuttle water or draft.

We also had an awesome opportunity to explain our operation and how we operate to a group of Boy Scouts from South Bend Indiana that were camping near by. What a great learning opportunity for some young kids.

We had another successful year and pancake breakfast at Oscoda County Heritage Days. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your weekend of fun!
