Join us for our next Veterans Café on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Mint Hill Community Center.

Mary Kay Luff, Su***de Prevention Coordinator with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, will discuss VA S.A.V.E., a training that helps everyday people learn how to support Veterans who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts or a crisis. No medical experience is required—only a willingness to help.

YOU ASKED, WE LISTENED! You can finally recycle ​plastic fruit and takeout containers, plastic drink and yogurt cups, and paper cups.

You read that right — you can now recycle these items in your curbside bin! Make sure they’re:
- CLEAN: No food or sticky residue left in the containers or cups.
- LOOSE: Don’t bag the items, just drop them directly in your bin.
- DRY: Make sure there’s no liquid left behind, including water from rinsing the recyclables.

The only other items you can recycle in your curbside bin are plastic bottles and jugs, cardboard, paper cups and cartons, paper and magazines, metal cans, & glass bottles and jars.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday heroes who answered the call with bravery and compassion.

On this Patriot Day, we reflect on the strength, unity, and resilience that brought our nation together in the face of tragedy. May we never forget the sacrifices made and the importance of standing together as a community.

The Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority (MPTA) Board of Trustees and the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) are seeking applicants for two advisory committees, the Mobility Access Committee (MAC) and the Transit Riders Advisory Committee (TRAC), to bring rider experience into transit planning and decision-making. These committees will help us better understand community needs and improve accessibility, operations and the rider experience across all CATS services. Applications are open through September 30th.
